Saints Women Play Pre Season Friendly Derby At AFC Totton

If you want to take a look at the progress the Southampton FC Women's team is making, then there is an ideal opportunity on Tuesday evening when they take on the Southampton Women's FC at AFC Totton's ground the Snows Stadium.

It will be a local derby this Tuesday evening over at Totton when Southampton FC Women's team take on a side from Southampton Women's FC .

This sounds a bit like The Life Of Brian with The Peoples Front of Judea and the Judean Peoples Front and there is an element of that given that SFCW (The Saints affiliated team) is the newcomer on the block whilst SWFC is the side with the pedigree having been in existence since 1970.

Back in the 1970's up to the early 1980's SWFC dominated the fledgling women's game in England, they are eight-time winners of the Women's FA Cup, second only to Arsenal with 14 titles to their name.

There will be some pride at stake in this game, the old established club seeing a team bankrolled by the Premier League club buying it's way up the divisions.

Marieanne Spacey-Cale's side will face Southampton Women's reserve team at Snows Stadium, as their pre-season friendly schedule kicks off ahead of a maiden season in National League Southern Premier.

It's the first of three games in front of fans included as part of their preparations for the new campaign, with matches against Lewes FC and London City Lionesses to follow.

The game takes place on Tuesday 20th July (7.30pm BST), at the Snows Stadium home of AFC Totton with tickets priced as follows:

Adults - £3
Concessions - Free
Tickets are available at the gates from 7pm (BST), with spectators asked to remain responsible and ensure they socially distance.

Parking is not available at Snows Stadium, but supporters are advised to use the nearby Calmore Industrial Park (approximately a three minute walk).
