Southampton B Team Face Burnley B At St Mary's On Sunday

Saints B team will head to St Mary's for their first fixture of the season when they take on Burnley in the Premier League 2 and it is free to go but you have to buy tickets in advance. Find out more details here.

Southampton B have not had a great start to the season, but these days at B team level it is not about results but about getting experience for the youngsters and finding out who will be one for the future and who will perhaps not have a career at St Mary's.

We have been lucky at Saints in that we have always had a fair share of youngsters who make the grade at the top level.

However the truth is that very few clubs actually produce more than 1 genuine first team regular every 3 years, most youngsters never make the first team or only make the odd couple of appearances before going to a lower level club.

The two players who Saints supporters may want to pop along to watch are two that have arrived in the summer and who could well make a breakthrough this season.

The first is Dynel Simeu who arrived from Chelsea, he has been captaining the side and earned some positive reviews so far and it will be interesting to see how he conducts himself.

The second is Thierry Small from Everton who is yet to make his debut for the club at any level but who could play a part in this match.

But there are others who may feature who are on the fringes of the first team, Caleb Watts made his debut last year and is highly rated and Yan Valery two 1/2 years ago looked destined for the top, there is a player still in there somewhere and he could yet have a career at the club.

If you want to go then you will need to buy tickets in advance from the club and there will be no tickets available on the day, details on the game and tickets etc are below.
