Wenger targets European domination
A period of domination has eluded our club since the thirties when we won three consecutive league titles. Since then, we have seen great teams but have failed to create an Arsenal era and that continues to motivate the boss.
Wenger is a one of the world’s great optimists and it is hard not to get carried away with his relentless positivity. Especially when he is willing to delay his retirement in order to achieve success with our club:
"Can you maintain for 10 or 15 years staying at the top in Europe? That's when you can see if a club is managed well."
"And I believe we'll achieve that together."
The latest line to come out of yesterday’s AGM is the clearest hint yet from Wenger that he will extend his contract beyond the current 2011 expiration date.
He recently stated that one of the reasons he turned down an offer from Real Madrid in the summer was to keep a promise he made to all of the young players at Arsenal: He has told the current squad that he will stay with the club and presumably, given the average age of the team, there will be a strong compulsion to stay for another ten years to see through his project.
