Town Name Squad for Cricket Match
Town's 13-man squad for Friday's Twenty20 cricket match against Ipswich and East Suffolk has an international feel with Carlos Edwards, Jaime Peters, Alex Bruce, Reggie Lambe, Shane O’Connor, Brian Murphy and Tommy Smith selected by captain Jon Walters (6.15pm). The rest of the first team will be present to appraise their team-mates’ performances.
The match has been organised to raise funds for the Suffolk Cancer Campaign, one of the club’s nominated charities. Entrance will be free with car parking via the London Road entrance. Refreshments will be available, while there will be a bouncy castle and other attractions for younger fans.
Skipper Walters, reportedly the subject of interest from QPR, says the squad contains few cricketing stars but that they will try their best: "We've not got too many cricketers in our team but we will give it a go.
"The game is for a very worthy cause. Hopefully the weather will stay fine, there will be a good crowd and we can hit some sixes."
A limited edition supply of charity miniature cricket bats will be on sale at £10 each with the Town players available to sign them, with one or two autographs already in place.
Ipswich and East Suffolk are auctioning the opportunity to face the Blues in Friday’s game with more details here. Town were previously in cricketing action during pre-season in 2007 and 2008.
