Brendan Rodgers referred to Saints as an ‘all in’ team. We play one way. It works occasionally but our game is based on one tactic of running 100 mph and pressing all the time. The players look knackered and Ralph isn’t tactically astute to shift things around. Other sides have sussed it out. Add to that some players simply aren’t good enough or are past it and you are in trouble.

This.

Leicester had one tactic yesterday - stifle us and catch us on the break.

And they stifled us and caught us on the break.

And we are just not nimble enough to respond - as a combination of no strength in depth (due to Inadequate transfer activity), tired and demoralised players (from running around to no effect week after week) and a manager with little tactical vision.

I think, particularly, Romeu has been a very big loss. Diallo has been dropped in the deep end and done OK, but our midfield is flimsy with him in the middle. Likewise, Djenepo - he’s just not good enough at this level and his inclusion always leaves us pretty much a man down.

We are the equivalent of a lower order batsman swinging wildly at every ball. Occasionally there will be a good innings but invariably will get out pretty quickly.

Diallo needs a strong tackling midfielder next to him. Bertrand looks way past it. Walcott no thanks. Ings needs to decide what he is doing. Bednarek makes too many mistakes. Djennpo as you say simply isn’t good enough and Redmond turns it on v championship or lower league sides but is too inconsistent at the top level. Add to that a dodgy keeper and a squad lacking depth. As for Ralph jury is out.

Perfectly sums up my thoughts on the current team.
