| 5 Things About The Leicester FA Cup Game 21:07 - Feb 15 with 1143 views | SaintNick | 1. I was disappointed about how empty the Northam End was, this is supposed to be our Red Wall, the most passionate vocal part of the ground, yet it was only around a quarter full. 2. If off the pitch was a little disappointing with the size of the crowd, on the pitch it was pleasing, the experienced players stepped up to the plate and the youngsters also put in a shift, it wasn't a great game to watch, but they got the game done. 3. We are getting a winning mentality on the pitch now, we just have to keep it going. 4. Mansfield home in the next round would be ideal. 5. We wont win the FA Cup but it will give us a chance to give the fringe players vital game time and bring on the youngsters | |

| 5 Things About The Leicester FA Cup Game on 21:33 - Feb 15 with 1062 views | Southamptonfan | I agree about the crowd. I understand that it was Leicester for the third time this season, so not very attractive, but interestingly. Norwich had 25 thousand for an equally boring game against West Brom, and Carrow Road looked full watching their goals. Birmingham had 28k against Leeds. We had 17 thousand with a whole end closed and the tickets were only £10. And watching the Birmingham fans on TV today, full of really loud, passionate, fierce support in a sell.out crowd all be it ahainst Leeds. We are a bit quiet particularly at home, and I sense your frustration s about the red wall. I would love Mansfield at home or away. I would quite fancy our chances against West Ham at home, Fulham or Leeds. Please not Liverpool, Man City, Arsenal away or even at home. I have had my doubts about Eckert but he is quietly going about things in a calm, measured way. He is clearly doing a very good job. The players, 1st team or not are fighting for the shirt and it was good to see the young players holding their own. Williams and Bragg stood out for me. I also thought Romeu had a good game. However, lucky draws, some fluke results in other games and anything can happen. Let's look at who is left: 1. Chelsea 2. Wrexham 3. West Ham 4. Mansfield 5. Manchester City 6. Norwich City 7. Southampton 8. Newcastle United 9. Liverpool 10. Leeds United 11. Wolverhampton Wanderers 12. Sunderland 13. Fulham 14. Arsenal 15. Macclesfield/Brentford 16. Port Vale/Bristol City Now imagine Macclesfield do the unthinkable again, and Vale beat City. Then imagine we get a very favorable home time and the big boys all play each other. Cups can be odd. | | | |

Man City nearly always seem to get an easy draw. They've been drawn at home to Exeter and Salford so far. In fact, they've been drawn at home to Salford 2 years in a row. At least they can't get them in the next round. Isn't it about time they got drawn away to Arsenal or Liverpool? Couldn't we get Mansfield at home this time, or are they reserved for Man City? The weakest team left in the competition usually has to go to the Etihad. City got Plymouth at home in the 5th round last year. [Post edited 16 Feb 10:43]

I do worry that the draw is fixed as it seems to me we never, literally never get the easiest draw of any round, yet big clubs get them ever year and mostly avoid each other every year. There has been talk of warm and cold balls (Matron) and such like, which could be true I guess. We all know that the FA would not want a Saints vs. West Ham final or similar.

I assume it's just luck. If it was really fixed, surely someone would have let on by now. Of course the League Cup draw really is fixed now so that the big clubs get an easy passage.
