Premier League Meeting Today 19th Mar 2020 09:08
Saints are today taking part in a unique Premier League meeting today, both in terms of the discussions to take place regarding the League season itself and the fact that it will not be face to face but a video conferencing call. 5

Whatever football authorities may want to do won't matter if the government goes ahead with its plans to keep social distancing measures in place for 6-12 months as reported several times on BBC News tonight.

I really think we can forget trying to complete this season in the summer. It's not going to happen. Even the start of next season must be in doubt now unless there is some significant medical breakthrough.

Anyway, any attempt to play a number of league games in a short space of time in the summer would have been shambolic, with unfit players who hadn't trained together for months, some of them still carrying the virus, ambling around in empty stadiums. Just one player testing positive would lead to a whole club's squad having to go into isolation for weeks.

I'm getting fed up of football clubs talking about ending the season. It's a game ffs. We are entering a crisis not seen in our generations lifetime. Football clubs should be talking about helping out as much as they can not moaning about whether they can finish the season. We all have more important things to worry about. How about Sky and BT reimbursing people who have paid up subscriptions and are going to lose their livelihoods for a start. Or Premier clubs looking at how their medical facilities can be of use. Even if it does start all of us will be skint anyway and won't be able to afford the exhorbitant prices Premier league clubs charge to watch a game.

Cancel the season and forget football. This of course will provide a much needed boost to our battered lives as we watch Liverpool go into total meltdown as they are denied the title.
