"Score prediction……. CUFC 1-1 CUFC (Payne)" Maybe I should do the pre-match previews more often! Great team performance. However, big shout outs to the back four and the sub impact from Romeo Akachukwu! Huge home games coming up vs Barnet and Salford before the re-arranged fixture up at Chesterfield C'mon the play-off chasing U's! |

Three changes from Saturday’s game at Barrow as Rob Hunt, Teddy Bishop and Owura Edwards return to the starting line-up. Fin Back, Romeo Akachukwu and Will Goodwin move to the bench. So, Tovide up front with Lisbie back to RW and Edwards LW. Terry on the bench instead of Flanaghan. [Post edited 17 Feb 18:35]

Eddie Keen leaves Colchester United coaching role to join Premier League club! https://uk.sports.yahoo.com/ne Who?!? Keen, who had been at the U’s since November 2023, has linked up with the Hammers to assist in their Player Development Pathway phase. Keen had most recently been working as Colchester’s under-18 boss and guided them to the FA Youth Cup fourth-round stage, bowing out at Oxford United last month. Keen first worked as Colchester’s Lead Phase Coach for their under-15 and under-16 teams. He then moved up to coaching the U’s under-18s side but now has a fresh challenge to look forward to, at West Ham. Eddie Keen is the son of Kevin Keen, who managed the U’s in the 2015-16 season. The duo will link up at West Ham, where Hammers legend Kevin now runs the academy loans alongside the likes of Carlton Cole. Eddie previously coached within the Brentford academy and was first-team coach at National League side Maidenhead United alongside former West Ham favourite and ex-Braintree Town boss, Alan Devonshire. Keen has previously coached in the United States and worked in the American College system, having studied at Hastings College, in Nebraska. He also worked with Atletico de Kolkata (ATK), a professional soccer team in West Bengal, India. |

“Cambridge away in the very first round saw a last-minute winner from Whitton.” Ah, the opening lines to the Special Duties song "Wembley Wembley! (Wembley here we come)" in 1997. Nearly 30 years later, I am certain that all Col U fans would bite their mother’s hand off for another 0-1 as The U’s travel about 375 miles less than they did on Saturday to lock horns with the other U’s from Cambridgeshire. The less said about the Barrow match the better, so with that in mind let’s look forward to a match up against “local” rivals Cambridge. Top of the ‘Last 10’ Form Table (Col U 11th) and 3rd in the ‘Last 6’ Form Table (Col U 12th), we head to the ‘Cledara (Sh)Abbey Stadium’ having just been ‘doubled’ by Barrow and so are looking to avoid a ‘double-double’ by avoiding defeat to Cambridge who beat us 1-2 back in August. Cambridge currently lie 2nd the League Two Table (Col U 12th). They are 4pts off top placed Bromley and 1pt clear of 3rd placed Swindon Town. So, with all of that said we might as well throw in the towel now and hand over the 3 points to Cambridge and save ourselves for a mid-table battle with Barnet on the weekend! As the famous Kiwi saying goes “Yeah, nah!” Not if I know Col U! The Col U that I know goes away to “Man U beating” Grimsby and wins 1-2! Away to “High Flying” Swindon secure a valuable point in a hard-fought 0-0 draw! Deliver a phenomenal away performance at “Pre-Christmas” Walsall winning 0-2 and blow Notts County out of the water in a 1-3 demolition! Come at us Cambridge – what have you got?? As for the starting line-up for Col U for this match where we need to show that we have the kahunas for the fight, I would revert back to basics: GK: Macey RB: Vincent-Young CB: Tucker CB: Araujo LB: Hunt RW: Tovide CM: Read CM: Bishop LW: Lisbie AM: Payne ST: Goodwin Subs: Smith, Flanagan, Back, Barbrook, Edwards, Akachukwu, Williams Weather: Sunny and a gently breeze during the day. High 7. Partly cloudy and light winds in the evening. Score prediction……. CUFC 1-1 CUFC (Payne) Up The Real U's! Ps. FANS WALK TO CAMBRIDGE FOR CHARITY Three U's fans will be taking on the task of walking from the Community Stadium to Abbey Field Stadium, the home of Cambridge United on 16th February, aiming to arrive on 17th February. The walk is in aid of mental health charity, Mind. Mind works across England & Wales, giving support & advice, and are there for you, whether you’re stressed, depressed or in crisis. Good luck to Adam Law, Jack Armstrong and Johnny Purslow. If you would like to contribute to their cause, please use the below link: https://www.justgiving.com/pag |

When asked if Szmodics still had a future at the club, McKenna curtly replied: "We'll see what the summer brings." Quizzed further on the decision to let the forward leave for a promotion rival on loan, he explained: "It's clear from a football perspective where Sammie's at and how he's done. He had a really positive first half of the season with us in the Premier League, scored some big goals and was on four goals by Christmas. He showed his strengths and we really missed him in the second half of the season. "He had two big injuries in the calendar year of 2025, both with complicated recoveries that have held him back a little bit. So there's obvious football things there. "But in the end it wasn't a football decision, it wasn't related to his football performance. It was a decision that was made in the best interests of our group dynamic, of our dressing room culture, of the values of our dressing room and of our team. "In those respects the decision was made that it was best that Sammie wouldn't be with us for the rest of the season. "Of course there was a possibility of that being on a permanent transfer but when there wasn't a suitable offer it was still considered that it was the best for him not to be here this season. That's all I'm going to say on it really. "It's difficult for supporters when you can't always give them the full picture. He's gone on loan to a team that's going well and I understand the perception of that. But in the end it's those of us in the top end of the club and my responsibility to do what I think is right for the football club. I've done that since I've been here and I'll continue to do that and that was the basis of this decision." |

Doncaster Rovers have brought in Wrexham midfielder Elliot Lee on loan until the end of the season. Lee was part of Wrexham's three promotions from the National League up to the Championship. The 31-year-old has played more than 150 games for the Red Dragons and scored 41 goals but he has only featured in three EFL Cup games this campaign. |

back on topic....... The transfer window is closed but it sounds like former Colchester United forward Sammie Szmodics could still be on the move - he's being linked with a switch to Derby County from them up the road! |
