There was no glamour tie for the Swans to look forward to in Round 3 of the FA Cup as the names of Stockport or Swansea were paired away to Reading in the tie which will be played on the weekend of January 8.
The potential good news for the Swans is that Scunthorpe may well find themselves focusing over the next few weeks on a tie against Premiership leaders Chelsea whilst there will be non league celebrations at Exeter (away to Manchester United) and Yeading (home to Newcastle United)
The Swans were also dealt a blot after Hinckley and Brentford played out a 0-0 draw meaning that that tie seems almost certain to be picked for live coverage of the replay.
The full 3rd round FA cup draw reads:
Arsenal v Stoke Swindon/Notts Co v Middlesbrough Man Utd v Exeter Plymouth v Everton Leicester v Blackpool Derby v Wigan Sunderland v Crystal Palace Wolves v Millwall Yeading v Newcastle Hull v Colchester Tottenham v Brighton Reading v Stockport/Swansea Birmingham v Leeds Hartlepool v Boston Milton Keynes Dons v Peterborough Oldham v Man City Chelsea v Scunthorpe Cardiff v Blackburn Charlton v Rochdale West Ham v Norwich Sheff Utd v Aston Villa Preston v West Brom Rotherham v Yeovil Burnley v Liverpool Bournemouth v Chester Coventry v Crewe Watford v Fulham Ipswich v Bolton Portsmouth v Gillingham Northampton v Southampton QPR v Nottm Forest Luton v Hinckley/Brentford
Ties to be played 8/9 January 2005
