Plus no doubt Marti will have already worked out where the boy's head is currently at and what can realistically be done to sort it out.

Life changing moments

Thanks for sharing, Mikey - really appreciate you (and everyone else for that matter) opening up and sharing like this - its what makes our Forum stand out and makes us feel like a proper, if slightly oddly assembled, family, as others have said much more eloquently recently.

I can certainly identify with No.1, as I would say exactly the same about my failed marriage which disintegrated spectacularly after 15 years of mostly living alongside each other.

As for me, I've had so many near-death moments, but the one that will always stand out is when my then fiancee (not the same girl I married, this was a few years after that break-up) pulled a machete on me during a schizophrenic episode. As I was caught between her and the bedroom wall at the time, I really thought I was done for and I can honestly say I have never prayed so hard in my entire life!

I truly believe that there is a loving God who looks over those who humbly honour his Name, as Chrissy became suddenly seemingly overcame by fatigue, put the machete away quietly and went to sleep, leaving me a quivering (but thankful) wreck as you can probably imagine. Next morning, I was hot foot out of the house as quickly as possible, checking only to see that she wasn't following me!!

I can honestly say that I have never felt anything like as overwhelmed or daunted by any problems that I've had since that day, and spend every waking hour thanking God profusely that I ams still alibve to tell this tale..

Why does it have to mean that he dosen't know what they were doing?!
it could (and probably does) mean the complete opposite!

Given his widely-held reputation as football's Next Big Thing, I would suggest he has already taken an in-depth look at exactly what they were doing, evaluated if the Gemini platform would help them do it quicker and easier, saving the club a significant amount of time and money in the process, and has concluded that it does.

Exactly what you would expect the CEO of a multi-million pound organsiastion to do, in fact..

Pretty stupid smug comment to make, don't you think?

It seems you're delighted to carp from the sidelines and revel in the tragedy of a clearly talented young man who, for whatever reason, seems unable to understand the privileged position that he's in and harness the opportunity he has.

Its particulalry ironic, given the high profile piece on the official website at the end of last season, where he went on record as saying that the death of his close friend had opened his eyes and how he wanted to fulfil the high hopes that his friend had for him.

Marti has already gone on record as saying that he is very aware of Taylor's talent, and I suspect that he's been trying to buy his team some time so that they can find the best way of getting inside this young man's head and work out how best to help him.

But none of that is of any interest to you who clearly knows much better than anyone else and are having the time of your life basking in your own self-satisfaction and smug self-righteousness going "I knew that little c*nt was a waste of time and space".

With your obvious unrivalled talent for perfect character judgement, I'm surprised the club hasn't been beating down your door to offer you a vast contract as a highly valued consultant..

Dykes injured?
at 19:04 31 May 2024

Agree 100%, as I'm sure most genuine fans do.
Marti mentioned during the run-in that he'd been talking to the squad about scoring more "ugly" goals, rather than leaving it for Chair or Willock (or latterly Dunne and Cook of course ) to score an absolute "worldie".
Dykes' goal against Leeds was a sign that he'd taken that on board, and a good tournament with Scotland would have set him up nicely for the start of next season with us.
It seems some of our fanbase have pathetically short memories, given its not that long since he battled back from pneumonia at a time when his consistent pressing and harrying made a significant difference to the team.

.. Plus I think Nourry has pulled a masterstroke by stating publicly how keen he was to have Marti with us - so keen he came to be CEO of the club he had recommended him to!

I think Marti will be very keen to do at least one, maybe two full seasons with us - especially if he manages to get us promoted, or runs close to it.

Eze for England!

This is so far off the mark, I find it hard to believe that you took the time to post such utter and complete garbage!

One of the things that I'm most proud of in supporting our relatively tinpot outfit is that we're generally proud of the achievements that our ex-players and managers go on to have. Its also one of the reasons that they still talk fondly about us, years after they've gone on to bigger and supposedly better things.

I went on Radio 5Live's 606 phone-in at the time Boilface left to say exactly that, Nixy, and to warn the Glasgow mob "Be careful what you wish for".

In the end, of course, he got shoved out of there before he could leave them for Liverpool, Barcelona, Real Madrid or wherever else he was going to pitch up next in his egotistical imagination..

De Zerbi....
at 07:29 19 May 2024

That's what the smart money seems to be saying, given they generally open their wallets sufficeiently widely to bring in the top talent.

There is a school of thought that he might go to AC Milan. but they work more closely to Brighton's model, and do put more emphasis on bringing youth through the system into the first team, which it seems is where de Zerbi has got frustrated with how this season has gone.

Olise at Palace.

Granted, he's been injured a lot, but the impact he has made when he has been fit has been clear for all to see.

Well said, Antti, although to be honest I'm not sure that obnoxious idiot deserved such a polite and well formulated response as you've given him.

Mine (and I strongly suspect most other people's) would have been a lot more direct and to the point, as it will be should he decide to waste his and everybody else's time by posting again.

Flipping this around to the positive, its clear that Nourry has a very clear vison of how he wants next season to look in terms of the profile of the first-team squad, but also what the Academy should be producing, and how that whole pathway should be working.

Its not even a week since the season ended, but we've already had significant movement both in terms of contract extensions and dealing with expirations.

At youth level, Trialist A, B, C, D, E and F all seem to be making regular appearances at both U-23 and U-18 level, so it suggests that words have indeed been had..

Stuff is occurring...

Nourry made a big play of this in his "This is Who I Am" intro interview a few months back.

With the amount of dosh that's been thrown at Heston, the "re-organisation" that saw them dump Ramsey and effectively make the DoF role redundant, I'm 100% sure that he and Ruben have "done the math" on this, especially with the headlines surrounding another Eze move and what that means for cash potentially coming into our grubby little mits.

Where will we finish next season ???
at 13:00 7 May 2024

If Marti had had a full season, and assuming that the points won ratio stayed the same over 46 as it did over the 32 games he presided over this term, we'd have got 69 points this season, which is the same as Middlesbrough actually managed, who finished 8th.

Lots of "ifs" in that sentence, but its still an interesting metric to consider.

Of course, there are likely to be personnel changes for next season, and there may be quite a few, depending on how contract negotiations go, but there are clearly a bundle of good reasons to be optimistic.

He believes it puts the club in a position of weakness when it comes time to negotiate extensions or sales, by giving other clubs notice ahead of time.

Clive: I just want to pick up on your "ostracised by Ainsworth" line in relation to Chris Willock, as this came up last week in the "Willock - Will He Stay?" thread.

Do we know for definite that Ainsworth proactively ostracised him? I accept that he clearly didn't play him as much as we all thought he should have done. However, you yourself pointed out that Willock's effort levels and body language had already looked to be severely lacking for some time.

I remember Ian McCullough asking Ainsworth directly about this, and the answer came back: "He needs to improve his fitness - Chris knows what he needs to do". That response doesn't sound like a manager ostracising a player. It just sounds like a manager trying to set some house rules and expecting a player to comply with them.

If memory serves me correctly, this had come to something of a head when Uncle Snake Oil Michael Boilface had just slimed his way in at Ibrox, and had very publicly declared his
supposed lack of desire to "take advantage of a situation at QPR" (very decent of you, old chap - I'm sure we all believe you) to seduce Willock into signing for him there. This clearly didn't go down too well with young Christopher, who had, I believe, already tweeted his "God moves in mysterious ways" post from his hospital bed, replete with a blue shirt, remarkably similar in design to the home kit of the club where his former manager was now residing..

Under those circumstances, I'm not sure you can blame Ainsworth for holding out on Willock, and maybe the introductions late on in games was actually his way of saying to Willock that there was a way back for him, if he just did what he was being asked to do (not unreasonably)?

I don't think any of us need to worry on that count at all.
Its pretty obvious that Christian Nourry has a massive amount of man-love for Marti Cifuentes, and I'm sure that Andy Belk will revel in being given very clear precise defined paramaters to work within, which I'm in no doubt at all he will be.
I think we can - for once - relax, knowing we actually resemble a living, breathing proper professional football club again.
