We all love our music....
at 08:07 12 May 2024

I'm reading David Byrne's book How Music Works and I came across this.

"It's sometimes the words. But just as often the content comes from a combination of sounds, rhythms and vocal textures that communicate in ways that bypass the reasoning centres of our brains and go straight to our emotions",

Sums up how I listen to music.

If you want a vivid reminder of just how shit it was, have a look at Jack Supple's (@qprstats) tweets from Sep and Oct.

Oct 7th - QPR have now failed to win 11 home games in a row. A new club record
Oct 7th - QPR have won 1 game at LR in 2023. Blackburn, Cov & Sunderland have all won 2
Oct 24th - QPR have now lost 18 of their 27 games under GA. F 19 a 50 (!)
Oct 28th - QPR have lost 10 or their opening league games for the 1st time in history

I'd forgotten just how appalling that run was.

Clearly Willock's got his big-wage move lined up then.

The recent WLS pods have been quite good; Gallen pointing out how Marti ended up with half a team of 6+ footers on the pitch which has transformed our set piece effectiveness both in attack and in defence.

Doesn't strike me as Marti's preferred long term solution but certainly effective for the last couple of months.

I just lobbed on.

I'm in the standing area in the lower loft and I think what you've been doing this season has been outstanding.

Hopefully you can keep it going.

Yes; it would be great to extend it part way or all the way but people who want the family seats wouldn't want it.

Personally, I've never been a fan of the family stand I only got the seats because there was a rumour that they might become standing seats and so they did.

When my son was six he was with me in the upper loft. Much more fun.

Anyway, it suits me but not everyone.

At home, it has been strangely nuts over the last two seasons; for long periods crowd sizes have been in inverse proportion to the quality of the football on show.

Having said that, the standing area in the Lower Loft had been nothing short of a transformational; it's changed that part of the ground from an area that noone wanted to go to to one that's absolutely rammed every game.

Kudos to the club for creating that and to the people who campaigned for it in the first place.

As most posters have said he had a good game.

I liked the fact that he was very quick off his line; something you don't really see with Begovic.

In other news a Leeds-supporting colleague of mine managed to sneak a ticket for himself and his son in SAR.

His final email to me on the subject was "Enjoy the game and the Leeds Atmosphere" .

When asked how it had gone his response was

"That was horrific".

Excellent I like that pod. It'll be good value with some extra LFW content.

TBF he did say at one point he'd walked out at 2-0 and for all he know "it could be 3-0 by now".

ROFL. It was 4 by the time he'd finished.

Are we capable of going up next season.
at 09:30 30 Apr 2024

At the moment it looks to me as if Marti and the new CEO are sticking plasters over a decade of chaos behind the scenes. Well maybe them and the new head of sports science.

So now we have a better coach, fitter players and a CEO who seems to bring some nous, young though he is.

LOADS more to do on the recruitment side - again, we've seen some early positive signs but there's a long way to go. And what about the academy?

When Clive posted that flow chart I started bricking it. If we hadn't managed that win this week would have been miserable and Saturday terrifying.

Watch me rise up and leave, all the ashes you made out of me – Report

My WhatsApps were pouring in during the game, some from neutrals who don't even follow football but were aware that something special was happening in LR.

My 3 x QPR chats kept me busy all weekend.

Still nothing from my Leeds mates, oddly enough. I have a Zoom call with one of them at 10.30 on Wednesday and he can't get out of it. ROFL.

Like others I was amazed at what Cifuentes was doing but kept worrying that it was going to be too little too late. And then the Stoke debacle happened and almost felt relieved at the end of any hope.

Then some miracles happened.

I can still barely believe what happened on Friday. I bumped in Clive when I walked into the C&S and tried to string a few words together in some sort of logical sequence but couldn't. My brain was still struggling to make sense of what had just hapened.

UUUUUURRRRRRSsssssssss!!!
