Rotherham and Lincoln continue to monitor 7-goal forward as Blackburn Rovers and Blackpool also circle

Rotherham United and Lincoln City both sent scouts to watch Notts County forward Ruben Rodrigues in action for the National League side against Rochdale in the FA Cup on Tuesday night, according to Nottinghamshire Live.

Rodrigues has emerged on the radar of numerous clubs this season following his impressive form for Notts County in the National League this term.

The 25-year-old has managed to fire home seven goals in his 15 league appearances this term to date and that has played a major role in establishing them amongst the teams chasing automatic promotion to the Football League.

It has already been reported that both League One dup Rotherham and Lincoln are interested in making a potential move for Rodrigues ahead of the January transfer window. While there has also been reports that Championship Blackpool are also one of the other teams that are keeping a watchful eye over the forward’s development.

According to the latest report from Nottinghamshire Live, Blackburn Rovers are also potentially interested in Rodrigues and they have also been monitoring his performances for Notts County in the National League this season.

The report from Nottinghamshire Live added that Rotherham and Lincoln have once again sent scouts to watch the forward in action for Notts County. That came with the 25-year-old playing the full 90 minutes as the National League side were beaten 2-1 at home by Rochdale in the FA Cup first round.

The verdict

You would have to say that it is reaching the stage where Notts County are going to do very well to be able to keep hold of Rodrigues during the January transfer window considering that Rotherham and Lincoln are showing such an interest in his performances at the moment.
Rodrigues looks the sort of player that has the quality to progress beyond the National League and make an impact in the Football League.

Rotherham and Lincoln will both be searching for that extra bit of quality in the winter window to help them push for automatic promotion and the play-offs respectively and the 25-year-old might be someone that can come in and help them achieve that.

Blackpool and Blackburn are also very attractive potential destinations for Rodrigues given that they could offer him the chance to leap up to Championship level. However, whether he is ready to take that big of a step up remains to be seen and it will be interesting to see if either of the Lancashire clubs firm up their interest.

Apter Loaned To Chester

Rob Apter has joined National League North side Chester on a 28 day youth loan.

The attacking-midfielder enjoyed a successful loan spell at Bamber Bridge in the first part of the season, scoring ten goals and providing numerous assists for the Northern Premier League side.

Apter, who recently signed a two-and-a-half-year contract extension at Blackpool, will now head to Chester to continue his development.

Everyone at Blackpool wishes Rob the very best whilst on loan at the Deva Stadium.

Cardiff City Activate Recall Option On Wintle

Blackpool Football Club can confirm that Cardiff City have activated an option to recall Ryan Wintle from his loan spell at Bloomfield Road.

The midfielder, who started in the 1-0 victory over Hull City on Saturday, is now set to report back for training with the Bluebirds this week, given that he is ineligible to feature in Blackpool’s Emirates FA Cup tie at Hartlepool United.

Wintle returns to Cardiff having made 18 appearances for the Seasiders, with the Club keen to thank him for his efforts in tangerine.

I'm sure the club've known about the recall for a while and are on the case.

Other options are Connolly, James played there early in the season when Connolly was at right back, or even play one defensive mid either 4-1-4-1 (4-1-3-2) or a diamond.

Isn't EFL HUB an wind up twitter account?

Anderson is an integral part of our team and there's no way it'd be a good idea to sell when we're only halfway through the season.

If we were to sell in the summer I'd be less distressed about losing him than I would be about Bowler. I'd have no problems with doing good business and getting a good fee for him in the summer window.

'Apart in valuations' suggest we would sell for the right money.

I wouldn't like it but in the summer there'd only be 12 months left on his contract.

When we signed Bowler, I assumed the short contract was because he was supposedly injury prone.

Report: Nottingham Forest bid over £1m for Blackpool star Josh Bowler

Nottingham Forest offered more than £1 million for Blackpool winger Josh Bowler, according to The Sun journalist, Alan Nixon.

The former Everton talent is on the radar of Forest and Dane Murphy is keen to bring him to the City Ground.

Bowler signed a one-year deal with Blackpool in the summer, with the Tangerines holding an option to give him another year.

Forest are hoping to take advantage of that and made their first move for the player last weekend.

It does seem as though the Reds will have to up the ante. Blackpool boss Neil Critchley wants to keep him and the club values him far higher.

Bowler, 22, has experienced a somewhat strange career to date.

Everton snapped him up from QPR but despite shining for the academy ranks, he left without making a first-team appearance.

He enjoyed a successful spell on loan with Hull and was snapped up on a free by Blackpool during the summer.

Bowler has enjoyed regular first-team football under Critchley, scoring twice and claiming three assists for the Tangerines this season.

His eye-catching performances this season have alerted Forest and they are keen to sign him before the deadline at the end of the month.

Critchley called Bowler ‘fantastic’ following a recent win over Hull City.
Exciting: Bowler fits the Forest profile nicely

Steve Cooper was in charge of Forest when Bowler played for Blackpool as they lost 2-1 against the Reds at the City Ground in October.

Clearly, he made an impression on the Forest boss and he’s a player who ticks the boxes for Dane Murphy too.

Bowler would be a magnificent capture by the club. He is young, has bags of potential and has also showcased he has what it takes at Championship level.

More goals and assists will be the order of the day going forward. Playing among better players, however, would help him kick on in that sense.

It’s unclear how much Blackpool do value Bowler at, but Forest have to consider another bid for a player who could thrive under Cooper.

Blackpool chasing transfer deal for 9-goal striker

Blackpool are still scouring the transfer market for ways in which to improve their squad and the latest target to be linked with a switch to Bloomfield Road is Jake Beesley, as reported by The Sun journalist Alan Nixon.

The Seasiders are performing admirably in the Championship, after sealing a promotion back into the second tier at the end of the last campaign.

Neil Critchley has worked wonders with them so far and is now searching for more talent to add to the team as they look to kick on a league higher.

One name that is now being linked with the club is that of Jake Beesley.

The 25-year-old currently plies his trade for Rochdale in League Two but has looked bright for the side so far this year and could be tempted into a move a lot higher up the football pyramid.

The forward has bagged nine goals and two assists so far this campaign in just 21 league outings. It takes his overall total at the club to 19 in 56, which isn’t a bad return for a side that have struggled in recent seasons.

Before that, the player spent some time at Solihull Moors and his previous best goals return came during a loan spell at Braford PA back in 2018, when he managed to bag a total of 20 goals in 43 games.

Now 25, he has finally had a solid crack at EFL football and is thriving given regular gametime at Rochdale. He has become one of their most invaluable strikers and with Blackpool looking for ways in which to bolster their strikeforce, they are now seemingly set to turn to Beesley in pursuit of some extra firepower.

The Verdict

Jake Beesley could end up being a shrewd signing for Blackpool if they pull it off.

There will undoubtedly be question marks about him considering his lack of experience higher up the table but if anyone can get the best out of him, it could be Neil Critchley. The forward hasn’t played higher than League One level and a jump up from the fourth to the second tier will certainly not be an easy task if a deal is done.

It may take some getting used to for the player and that may mean a lack of goals. He’s certainly a gamble but considering the likely fee and the experience — and goalscoring prowess — that Beesley already has, it could end up being a shrewd move by the Seasiders.

I've sussed out how a lot of these journos work:

They sit on the internet with Alan Nixon's, and a couple of others like him, twitter page and bang out an article using Wikipedia, WhoScored and TransferMarky every time a rumour is tweeted.

Maybe they'll make a phone call to the club concerned. Probably not though

Plenty of names being bandied around now.

It's getting difficult to sort the wheat from the chaff.

Would there be any point in loaning this guy if we weren't considering selling Bowler and not signing Dale on a permantent?:

QPR winger attracting transfer interest from EFL duo

Blackpool and Portsmouth are both interested in signing QPR attacker George Thomas, a report from Football Insider has claimed.

Thomas joined QPR on a free transfer back in the summer of 2020, but has so far struggled to make an impact for Mark Warburton’s side.

The 24-year-old has started just eight games for the club across all competitions, and is yet to score for in 27 appearances in total, providing just one assist in that time.

As a result, it now seems as though Thomas could be in line for a move elsewhere, with the transfer window once again open.

According to this latest update, QPR’s Championship rivals Blackpool, and League One play-off hopefuls Portsmouth, have both enquired about a loan move for Thomas for the second half of this season.

It is thought that QPR themselves could be open to allowing the winger to leave the club on a temporary basis this month, given the 24-year-old’s lack of game time in recent months.

QPR are currently fifth in the Championship table, eight points ahead of 12-placed Blackpool as things stand.

The Verdict

It does seem as though a loan move away from QPR this month could be good for Thomas.

Considering his lack of game time since the start of the season, it could be good for the winger to get the regular game time he no doubt wants to enjoy at this stage of his career.

Should such a move happen, then a move to Portsmouth could be more appealing from a QPR perspective, since it is less likely to have an impact on them, than sending him to a second-tier rival such as Blackpool could.

Blackpool in negotiations with Crewe over permanent deal for Owen Dale with loan spell ending

The winger's loan spell ends on 10 January with an option to buy in the agreement

Blackpool are locked in negotiations with Crewe over the permanent transfer of Owen Dale.

The loanee arrived on the summer transfer deadline day but wasn't able to make his debut until mid-October due to a foot injury.

Since then he hasn't been able to stake a claim for consistent first-team football making just four starts for the Tangerines this campaign.

READ MORE: Blackpool Covid update as fresh positive tests revealed

Reports in December suggested that the club were looking to reduce the initial terms of the permanent deal with the Railwaymen.

It appears that an initial fee was not set in stone and that the two teams are actively in discussions to come to an agreement with his loan spell close to expiry.

Neil Critchley told Lancs Live: "Until January 10 the loan is there and then we have to try and find a way, if we can, of bringing Owen here."

"Those discussions are happening now and we'll see where that gets us."

Blackpool are currently short on numbers due to covid cases and injuries, alongside the recent news that Ryan Wintle has been recalled by Cardiff.

Given the current covid squad requirements, clubs are more likely to keep hold of their assets making movement in the January window more difficult and already having an option to purchase Dale allows for some form of addition to the side.

With just four days of his loan spell remaining, he will be eligible to play in the FA Cup third round against Hartlepool this weekend, but where his future lies beyond that is unclear.

Crewe will be looking to come to an agreement with Blackpool over the permanent deal given Dale has long left the club and that could well drive the price down in order for the two clubs to do business.

As expected, a Branningan bid:

Sources: Blackpool have six-figure bid for Oxford star Brannagan rejected

Blackpool have had a £500,000 bid for midfielder Cameron Brannagan rejected by Oxford United, Football Insider understands.

The Championship outift have held a long-term interest in the 25-year-old and tried to sign him last summer.

A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Blackpool manager Neil Critchley is a big admirer of Brannagan having worked with him during his time as Liverpool under-23s boss.

The Manchester-born ace came through the ranks at Anfield and made three league appearances for the Merseyside club during the 2016-17 campaign.

The midfielder made a permanent switch from Liverpool to Oxford in 2018, following a season-long loan at Fleetwood the previous season.

Brannagan has just 18 months remaining on his contract at the Kassam Stadium after penning new terms in August 2020.

The former England U20 international has netted four goals in 24 games for the U’s this season.

In total, he has notched 19 goals and 14 assists in 168 games across his four-year spell with the Thames Valley club.

As revealed by Football Insider last summer (2021), Blackpool submitted a late-window bid for Brannagan (30 August) but a move failed to materialise.

The Lancashire side sit mid-table in the Championship and are just seven points off the playoff places.

Currently 12th, Critchley’s side are 14 points clear of the drop zone in their first season back in England’s second tier.

Blackpool are next in action tomorrow as they take on Hartlepool in an FA Cup third-round clash.

Just a thought.

Brannigan is at least the 4th central midfielder we've already been linked with this window.

Fuchs in Scotland, the Leeds' lad, and Watt at Bradford being the other 3.

It illustrates that we've got other irons in the fire and so probably won't offer silly money to land Brannigan.
