Obefemi fitness issues may be down to what he is being asked to do during a game, one of his biggest assets is his pace, the energy he expends during his sprints must be considerable and the amount of sprinting he has been asked to do has obviously causing him injuries in the past.
The likes of Dyer, Rouledge and Sinclair were protected and if they seemed to be struggling would be replaced or benched for rotation.
Obefemi had a successful run in the team but was rested, he may think dropped giving Piroe the lead role or maybe
a case of Martin thought he was unable to fit both in the system he wanted to play not being able to adapt the team to suit both.
Just going back to the damage that can be caused by relying on players pace you just have to look at Montero, outstanding at what he was able to do but that hamstring injury became such an issue, bad luck or over use and not being protected, many players with blistering pace have struggled, Giggs had to adapt his game with Ferguson help, Michael Owens career cut short, Sterling and Aguero moved on once they were unable to match Pep''s required levels.
Why did Dan James end up looking so good at the second half of his final year before being transferred, still young enough to not be affected by injury, playing in a system that protected him with players around his sharing the load or just looking good at the level he was playing at the time.
Are Obefemi's life style or his work ethics problems maybe, maybe not, his work or are his expectations for himself too high time will tell.
As for the crazy individual errors, they are errors that the opposition set up to force, to exploit the weakness in our system, a system which needs to adapt to what happening at any given moment in a game allowing the players make the right choices to prevent those errors being created.
Sometimes players on the pitch can see what is going wrong amd can adapt but sometimes the manager has to intervene, adaptability and stability all round is key but one system doesn't fit all.cases and teams abilities need to be taken into account as well as the opposition. | | | |
