Griffiths Joins Sudbury

Released Blues midfielder Jamie Griffiths has joined Ryman League Division One North side AFC Sudbury and not Blue Square Bet Premier club Braintree, where he had been on trial.

Griffiths, who made his debut for his new club in last week's 3-3 draw with Enfield, says he felt opportunities might be limited at Braintree: “I had been offered to sign until the end of the season but I wanted to play games and was not guaranteed that there.”

Griffiths signed a six-month deal with Town last summer which wasn’t extended when it was up in December. Since then the 20-year-old has also spent time on trial with Gillingham and Colchester but without winning a contract.

The Bury-born Academy product made one senior appearance for the Blues as a sub late on in last season's Carling Cup victory over Northampton.
