Thomas Rumours Are Rubbish - Official

Over the past few days JA.Net and several other news agencies have been contacted by worried supporters regards the position of James Thomas at the club. This particular story surrounded Brian Flynn's selection and playing role of Thomas at recent Swansea games. As has been documented this week by Brian Flynn Thomas has been playing wider than usual to compensate for various formations that Flynn believes are in the best interests of the team. On the weekend we received a telephone call from a worried supporter who stated the reason for this was that Thomas only needed to score one more goal before earning a two thousand pound bonus from the club. He went on to say that this was the reason why Flynn was playing Thomas wider than usual, to avoid paying the money. We also checked with our contacts in the media who had also heard of this story and were preparing to question the club about it. Since then our inquiries have proved it to be total rubbish. It has also been mentioned that a member of Thomas's family has been rubbishing Flynn when talking about James Thomas too. These rumours are just that and today JA.Net spoke with a director of the club who stated " This is absolute rubbish, Brian Flynn plays James Thomas as he see's fit, and this is nothing to do with anyone else outside of the team. And to say he is playing him in a role that in effect means he can't score for Swansea City is scandalous, and to be honest libellous " The director then pointed about " We would actually pay James two grand a goal for scoring at the moment, we are that desperate for goals, but seriously, this is the daftest but funniest story of the season so far "
We have to agree. 100 %
This sort of story is nonsense and does nothing for Swansea City or the management team as we prepare for the most important series of league games in the club's history. A couple of wins, and a couple of draws from the next five games would settle the team and ease the fear of relegation which at this moment in time is very real. We would also be very pleased to hear from anyone who believes they know the origin of this story, please feel free to e mail this site or tell us at
Swansea City will be at full strength for the re-arranged home game with Bury at The Vetch Field on Tuesday ( KO : 7.45pm )
Thomas has already showed where his loyalties stand by stating he is not interested in going or playing anywhere else other than at Swansea City. This is rubber stamped by his recent house purchase in the Swansea area. It is believed that Norwich City were showing an interest in Thomas, but this news should put them and anyone else off in their search for a striker at the expense of Swansea City. James Thomas was called in to the Welsh squad last time around for the victory in Azerbaijan, and his goal scoring prowess has not gone unnoticed by a number of league managers at a higher level. However Thomas has one goal this season, securing league football in Swansea, and then all he wants is to sign a new contract with his hometown club - official.
Swansea City manager Brian Flynn will also be happy now he has secured the services of Alan Tate from Manchester United and Leon Britton from West Ham until the end of the season. That alone means both players will also be in line for a decent pay day if they succeed in keeping Swansea City in the football league.
The Vetch Field pitch is playable as at Monday evening ( 13th January ) and the 24 hour weather forecast until 10 pm on Tuesday ( 14th ) is for a milder outlook in the west and Wales. This should ease the worries of fans preparing to go to the game against Bury who themselves will want three points from the game as they look to establish themselves at the top end of the division. Having not played since the last minute defeat at Lincoln City on the 28th December 2002 Swansea players must be desperate to get us off to a new year flyer - and put three points in the league survival bank.
BBC Wales will show the FAW Premier cup game Newport County v Swansea City LIVE on the 28th January 2002 with a 6.50 pm kick off. This game will also be screened on BBC 2 Wales available free on SKY digital TV. Swansea were cruelly beaten by Cardiff City at Ninian Park in last seasons final
1-0 which earned The Swans just under ninety thousand pounds all told. However, Swansea City's away support that day is an FAW record, now confirmed by the FAW in Cardiff as 1,563. A sell out, and nearly a third of the total attendance that evening.
Today's casualty - Graham Alner, ex Cheltenham Town manager
Bye Bye Graham. The league merry go round continues ...........

Jamal Lowe : Still to be contacted regards his future at Swansea, Langstaff update
We have been told by numerous Swansea fans of a chance meeting in a service station between Jamal Lowe and those returning from Norwich yesterday. Nothing in that or indeed the conversation they had yesterday. Indeed there has to be some interpretation from what we know already on Jamal Lowe.
Brave Swans in memorable game at Carrow Road
It was a pulsating game to watch and very much one of my favourite away games of the season. The Swans looked an entirely different side to that we saw at Middlesbrough when it is clear a catalyst for commitment was agreed behind the scenes at Swansea City. To a man every player grafted and wore the shirt with pride. To see the players really acknowledge the Swans support at Carrow Road this afternoon was emotional.

Swansea reject Cullen contract and trigger one year option
Liam Cullen has had his request for a new contract dismissed by Swansea City after discussions broke down last week. The lowest paid ‘senior’ player at the club ( he is twenty five) asked for a better contract increasing his £3,500 a week to around £7,000 a week over three years.
Gwyn’s Eye View : Norwich City v Swansea City ‘The officials’

Sam Parker hasn’t turned down a new deal, he is willing to negotiate
He was a revelation for the Swans for the few games he played this season, and now it emerges Sam Parker has ‘turned down’ a new Swansea City contract. News is thin on the ground, and some of it just incorrect as he looks to involve his representatives in some further negotiations. Plus his current contract runs for two more years.
Swansea City : The vision is clearer, so Jamal Lowe ?
There were some worrying moments for the Swans yesterday, on three occasions mistakes from playing out from the back nearly saw the home side score. And is there now a case for Jamal Lowe to be offered a contract at Swansea ?
