BJB Day 38

The Morning After The Day Before.....

Home > Story Index >Day 38 In The Big Jack Brother House

29.06.03 - 9.43am - There is still a feeling of unease in the house after yesterday's close on gang warfare. Leigh and Nick are still not speaking at all whilst Myra is having visions of Leon's North London family coming to sort them all out. Her vision is of an army of small people all coming armed with plastic guns and wearing army hats. (For the older readers remember General Jumbo from the Dandy?)
29.06.03 - 11.14am - It's time for the housemates to be set the weekly task. Chances of passing this week look slim unless the housemates can get back on speaking terms. Myra is called to the diary room to receive this week's instructions.
29.06.03 - 11.23am - Myra is relaying the task instructions to the rest of the group. This week the group have been asked to put on a play on Wednesday where they have to act out what they see as a typical day at the Vetch Field. Each of them must take one part with two provisos - that they do not play themselves and none of them play one of the other housemates. Big Jack Brother will asses the play once they have acted it out and will then advise how much extra food budget they will get on top of their normal entitlement. A poor play can mean that Big Jack Brother can subtract money from what they have.
29.06.03 - 12.17pm - The housemates are deciding who will take which part in the play. Leon Britton is immediately given the part of Brian Flynn as he is the smallest housemate. Leigh Dineen volunteers to take the part of Huw Jenkins and reluctantly the group agree.
29.06.03 - 1.37pm - Further parts have been given out in the play. Jason Smith is taking the part of Richie Evans because of his knowledge of all things medical whilst Myra has been given the part of David Morgan because the remaining housemates can see a resemblance there.
29.06.03 - 2.12pm - There is some disagreement over the remaining four parts. James Thomas wants to play Alan Curtis as he is a natural Swansea legend but instead is given the part of Reg Pike. Nick Rees is eventually persuaded into the part of Roberto Martinez
29.06.03 - 2.23pm - The final part is decided with Peter Owen taking the part of Dianne Griffiths because, as Peter puts it, "I'm a natural salesman" The group beg to differ but at the same time humour him and let him take the part.
29.06.03 - 3.42pm - Discussions in the group are now focused around the script for the play. They have decided that all eight of them will partake in a spoof of Roberto Martinez's contract talks. Brian Flynn will open the negotiations before being joined by David Morgan and Huw Jenkins. The rest of the group will then come in and help persuade Roberto to sign for the Swans.
29.06.03 - 5.14pm - Leon is not happy with his first line in the play. The housemates have decided that when 'Roberto' walks into the room he should say to Brian "Don't stand up. Oh Sorry you already are" but Leon thinks that it is a little bit too cheesy.
29.06.03 - 8.58pm - The play is on hold for the time being with just the first scene being written. The housemates are now enjoying their evening meal of sausage and chips cooked for them by Myra and as Leon puts it "Just like my Mummy makes"
29.06.03 - 11.02pm - The housemates head to bed after a tiring day and it appears that the problems of yesterday have been put behind them. Notwithstanding one of them will be evicted at the end of the 6th week in the house and you can make a difference as to who by using the voting form below.

Brave Swans in memorable game at Carrow Road
It was a pulsating game to watch and very much one of my favourite away games of the season. The Swans looked an entirely different side to that we saw at Middlesbrough when it is clear a catalyst for commitment was agreed behind the scenes at Swansea City. To a man every player grafted and wore the shirt with pride. To see the players really acknowledge the Swans support at Carrow Road this afternoon was emotional.

Liam Cullen has had his request for a new contract dismissed by Swansea City after discussions broke down last week. The lowest paid ‘senior’ player at the club ( he is twenty five) asked for a better contract increasing his £3,500 a week to around £7,000 a week over three years.

Thanks to Gwyn we have a thorough assessment of this weeks officials who will take charge at Carrow Road this Saturday at 3pm. Norwich City will be keen to get the points to guarantee their play off slot, and Saturday is their first go.
Sam Parker hasn’t turned down a new deal, he is willing to negotiate
He was a revelation for the Swans for the few games he played this season, and now it emerges Sam Parker has ‘turned down’ a new Swansea City contract. News is thin on the ground, and some of it just incorrect as he looks to involve his representatives in some further negotiations. Plus his current contract runs for two more years.
Swansea City : The vision is clearer, so Jamal Lowe ?
There were some worrying moments for the Swans yesterday, on three occasions mistakes from playing out from the back nearly saw the home side score. And is there now a case for Jamal Lowe to be offered a contract at Swansea ?
Leighton James : His own football revolution
With the passing of Leighton James yesterday we have a Saturday night treat for football fans, Swans fans and Wales followers the world over. Who can recall the magic boots imposing themselves on clubs throughout Wales and England ?
