Swansea City v Huddersfield Town - Match Preview

From A Swansea Perspective

Any game that sees Peter Jackson in charge of the opposition is always likely to be a half decent one. Not the most popular manager of recent times at Swans games says the master of the understatement but he usually manages a decent side although Huddersfield fans will beg to differ this time around. I always enjoy playing Huddersfield although I have absolutely no idea why so please don't ask me.

Team News

Both Lee Trundle and the Scrabble players dream Kevin Amankwaah look certain to shake off their injuries to be in the squad against the Terriers although the shoulder rolling Trundle will probably have to make do with a place on the bench with leading scorer Leon Knight retaining his position alongside Bayo. Fallon's midweek reserve goal is unlikely to see him return to the starting line up

Chris Brandon is expected to feature after beating his own injury but Nathan Clarke is only rated at 50/50 whilst both David Mirfin and Martin McIntosh should feature

Form Guides

Huddersfield are surprisingly languishing at the wrong end of the table having featured along side us in the play offs last season. Their fans will tell you that it is down to some strange managerial decisions and favourites within the squad. Some of ours will say the same about us. Despite last week's reverse at Gillingham I guess we are probably the form horse in the fixture with 7 points of the last 9 at home in the bag.

What The Bookies Say

Recent form sees us start as odds on favourites according to Bet 365 with them offering 4/5 on us to win, the draw at 23/10 and Huddersfield the long shot at 3/1

There will be no surprise to learn that Lee Trundle can be backed as favourite for the first goal at 7/2. Knight is 4/1, Fallon 9/2, Bayo and Robinson and 5/1. Luke Beckett is first call for the opposition at 13/2. Big Dennis (22/1) and Izzy (40/1) will probably attract a few squids.

With Trundle likely to start on the bench what price a penalty to be first goal tomorrow with duties then falling very likely to Pratley. He first goal in a 2-0 win is available at 55/1

What Do The Fans Think?

131 predictions to date and 115 say home win Swansea. 11 back the draw and 5 a Huddersfield win pretty much backing up the bookies odds. With 57 votes, Leon Knight as first scorer is the one that many fancy.

JackArmy.net Predicts

I said 3-1 last week I just got the winner wrong pushing the season score to a pathetic 3 from 9. I'm due a good prediction and this time around there is no way I will be wrong if I say a Swansea win. By two goals come to think of it.

Brave Swans in memorable game at Carrow Road
It was a pulsating game to watch and very much one of my favourite away games of the season. The Swans looked an entirely different side to that we saw at Middlesbrough when it is clear a catalyst for commitment was agreed behind the scenes at Swansea City. To a man every player grafted and wore the shirt with prid. To see the players really acknowledge the Swans support at Carrow Road this afternoon was emotional.
