Bodde Returns To Swansea

Ferrie Bodde returns to Swansea City tomorrow for pre-season training

Martinez states clearly that Bodde is a Swansea player and he will be expected to put the same desire and input into pre-season training as anyone else with the Spaniard also believing that Bodde could still play for the Swans next season.

Bodde has expressed a desire to leave the Liberty and join Derby after a close season full of speculation that shows no sign of ending.  With Derby still adamant that the player desires a move to Pride Park they could now face competition from West Brom after it emerged yesterday that the Premiership new boys could also mount a bid for the midfielder.

"Until Ferrie is told differently, he is a Swansea City player," the Swansea manager told the Evening Post.

"He has got another two years on his contract and I can definitely see him playing for us next season.

"Yes, something could still happen with him, but that is true with every player in our squad.

"He has been the story of the summer and I understand it's probably going to carry on, but Ferrie's in the same situation as every one of his team-mates.

"We're planning for the new season and we're planning with Ferrie as part of our squad.

"Derby's third bid was never official

"It's a compliment to us and what we did last season that they are interested, but that's all it is and we're focusing on pre-season."

Though he doesn't want to lose Bodde, Martinez admits he has considered how he will fill the void should the Dutchman depart.

But he stressed: "In football you always need to look at the bigger picture and that's all I'm doing.

"You need to have cover ready whether it's for injuries, suspensions or losing players."

Brave Swans in memorable game at Carrow Road
It was a pulsating game to watch and very much one of my favourite away games of the season. The Swans looked an entirely different side to that we saw at Middlesbrough when it is clear a catalyst for commitment was agreed behind the scenes at Swansea City. To a man every player grafted and wore the shirt with pride. To see the players really acknowledge the Swans support at Carrow Road this afternoon was emotional.
