Swans To Be Presented With Champions Flag

Swans Chairman Huw Jenkins will be presented with a Champions flag ahead of tonights friendly with Den Haag

The presentation is designed to go some way to smooth the way after the farce at the end of last season created solely by the football league over the Leeds United deducted points affair.

The Swans were denied the chance to receive thgeir well earned trophy in front of their own supporters when the football league refused to acknowledge them as Champions until a decision was made over the deduction of the fifteen points.

It meant that the celebrations were postponed until the final day of the season at Brighton when the Swans lifted the League One title in front of a much reduced travelling support.

And as a result of that the League are now making the gesture tonight and the League One trophy will also be on display as the Swans play their final pre-season friendly before the real stuff starts at Charlton

On the subject of the presentation, Roberto told the Evening Post "It's a nice touch

"There was no need for them to do anything, but it's very welcome for them to try to make up a little bit for what happened last season.

"It's always nice to get some recognition and the League are giving us that now.

"They understand that what happened was unique and that nobody would like to see it happen again.

"That's great and we hope now to have a little celebration with our supporters because that's something we were denied in the spring."
