Swansea City : Last game of the season, latest injury news and the full low down on the big game

Today brings the Championship season to a close for the majority of the clubs involved, and the Swans face Millwall at 12.30pm today at the Swansea.com stadium. Just over 1,100 visiting supporters have made the journey in what we hope is a celebration of the end of the season for both clubs.

Swansea City, despite their difficult season on and off the pitch are making sounds about next season already, and it seems there is a confidence around the club. Luke Williams has already suggested that every player knows their destiny regards staying and going, and the club will announce their retained list shortly. And today we will see a Swansea side going for the win and not settling in to an end of season game, that’s not what is going to happen. We will see, the full pre match interview is below.

Millwall have ex Swansea player Michael Obafemi (below) in their ranks, on loan from Burnley. He had a troubled time at the Swans and hardly endeared himself to the fans at times before leaving last summer for Burnley. Since then he has been out for a long period of time with injury and it was a surprise to see him at Millwall after the time he had at the Swans. In any event he has chosen his own career path and it will always be attitude and behaviour that reveals his next port of call. He hardly helped himself when at our club.

Over the last twelve games at home the Swans have been defeated in six of those fixtures.

Millwall manager, Neil Harris has returned to the club again and has an impressive tally of twenty three points from thirty six (twelve games) He has steered the team away from relegation and has most certainly been the main driver for this turnaround. Now the supporters want to know if he is staying ? Harris has responded, "I help the recruitment team recruit players that are good for the football club. I know what a Millwall player looks like. I’m here to help for a period of time, short or medium term, and to lead the club into a much better place than when I walked into the building and I’m really going to enjoy doing it. I’ve loved it so far and I’m going to carry on enjoying it.”

Not too clear, his contract does run through until 2025.

Both clubs have improved immensely over the latter stages of the season. Recent form indicates this as well. See below.

Over the last eight meetings the Lions have only won the once, plus they will want revenge for the game at the New Den earlier on in the season. That ended in a 3-0 victory for the Swans. Neil Harris has stated his goalkeeper, Bartosz Bialkowski will play no part in the game today. Joe Bryan and Murray Wallace are out.

Away from our visitors today the Swans will have defender Harry Darling missing. Joe Allen is out as is Placheta, so Nathan Wood will start ? A slightly larger crowd than normal is expected and the kick off is at 12.30pm, team News at 11.30am.

Swansea City : Rak-Sakyi chances improve dramatically
The Swans are still in a kind of limbo today as they look to at least seal a deal for out of contract defender Joel Ward this transfer window. And the news is ‘It is going to be a quiet window’ There could be movement in the academy but as it stands two young players of interest are not anywhere near to signing professional terms.
Swansea City : Jesurun Rak-Sakyi update and Josh Key back up named
You won’t get anything of note from a football club during any transfer window unless it comes with a caveat that it is in their interest for certain things to be mentioned, proposed or even disregarded as a result of information given. Swansea City have a very tight unit of those who have access to information and any leak is easily traced.
Big match report : Swans let it slip again at Millwall
It happens a lot would be the recollection from the Sheehan era. Unfortunately It still happens is the comment on Vitor Matos’s stewardship to date. And that’s conceding goals at the end of games and halves. Having got themselves into a position to take a point away from the New Den an added time winner from Millwall undone all the Swans hard work.

The Swans travelled from Swansea to their overnight accommodation prior to taking on Millwall at the New Den tomorrow (3pm) - today. A fully confident squad with more wins than losses in December. Then of course the opening game of the new year on January 1st saw the Swans defeat WBA 1-0.
Is Millwall going to be as tough as some think it will be ? Defender update.
On the treatment table this afternoon have been Ronald (ankle / lower leg) Josh Key (foot injury) Adam Idah (long term hamstring) Ethan Galbraith (slight hamstring tweak) and Liam Cullen who is expected back for Birmingham City. That’s the latest, but things change.
Swans scrap it out to beat the Baggies
There were some worried looks when Swansea head coach, Vitor Matos announced his starting eleven against West Bromwich Albion, not least the fact he had no striker in the team. It turned out to be a masterstroke despite a fifteen minute period in the second half, and some uneasy moments at the end of this Championship fixture.
