Williams Ready For Wales Action

Ashley Williams has declared himself not tired as he prepares for action with Wales

The Swansea City defender is part of the Wales squad that will take on Finland and Germany over the next week or so and he believes he is better playing than sitting on a beach somewhere.

Yesterday Roberto stated that Williams needed a break but that is not something that concerns the defender who has been one of the consistents in the Swansea City side this season.

Roberto told BBC Sport yesterday "If we can get Ashley a bit looked after, we will welcome that

"He has played every single minute in the league. He is the only player [for the Swans] and in that respect, you can see the fatigue is playing a part in Ashley's work.

"But we understand the importance of the two games that the national team are facing."

And from those two games Williams believes that Wales need a minimum of four points to keep alive their slim chance of reaching South Africa next summer.   He told the Western Mail “I’d much prefer to be playing these games than sitting on a beach somewhere

“The Swans players who are going away for a break have been taking the mickey out of me constantly for the last two weeks,” said the 24-year-old central defender.

“I don’t think they envy me, but deep down I think they’d rather be playing in international games.

“I’m not fatigued, not at all,” he said.

“It’s impossible not to be full of energy and up for every game when you’re playing at the Liberty, or going to great stadiums like Hillsborough. I want to play as much against Finland and Germany as possible.

“We need at least four points from the two games."

Brave Swans in memorable game at Carrow Road
It was a pulsating game to watch and very much one of my favourite away games of the season. The Swans looked an entirely different side to that we saw at Middlesbrough when it is clear a catalyst for commitment was agreed behind the scenes at Swansea City. To a man every player grafted and wore the shirt with pride. To see the players really acknowledge the Swans support at Carrow Road this afternoon was emotional.
