Swans Sign 'The New Modric'

Ok so the headline may be slightly sensationalist but the Swans official Twitter account has announced that we have signed Tottenham midfielder Tom Carroll on loan for the season.

I confess I knew nothing about the guy so off to everyone's friend Wikipedia and the first thing that I read I liked which said"He plays as a deep-lying creative central midfielder, and is particularly valued for his high passing percentage accuracy and creativity. His style of play has drawn comparisons with former teammate Luka Modrić"

In itself this sounds a brilliant signing of the player who has previously been on loan at Derby County and Leyton Orient and last season at Queens Park Rangers as well as a couple of appearances for Spurs last year in the early stages of the Europa League.

We have said that we needed a midfielder to fit the description given on Wikipedia and without a doubt this appears on the face of it to fit the bill that we wanted.

Second off what else do you do when you sign a new player you look around You Tube and this is what we found there

All again looking very promising and a good signing by the club to bolster the midfield options which is one area that we have said over the last week that we were keen to strengthen on.

Time will - as ever - tell on a new signing but another good move on the face of it by the Swans and one for a change that was completely out of the blue with no real links of note made prior to the signing.

As of course it should be!

Brave Swans in memorable game at Carrow Road
It was a pulsating game to watch and very much one of my favourite away games of the season. The Swans looked an entirely different side to that we saw at Middlesbrough when it is clear a catalyst for commitment was agreed behind the scenes at Swansea City. To a man every player grafted and wore the shirt with pride. To see the players really acknowledge the Swans support at Carrow Road this afternoon was emotional.
