Happy Valencia Memories For Rangel

For those of us that were there the win in Valencia two years ago in the Europa League was a trip that will never be forgotten, thousands of Jacks in the sun watching their side destroy one of the bigger names in Spanish football is something special and memories that will live on for a lifetime.

We were helped by an early sending off but goals from Bony, Michu and Jonathan De Guzman were all special moments for us all as we got our group stages of the competition off to a flyer.

People can moan about the Europa League all they like but we had a season in Europe and I enjoyed every moment of it and it was trips like Valencia that made it all the more special for me.

Leading the Swans that night was Angel Rangel who captained the team for the first time in his homeland and as he joked, it wasn't really a bad start to captaincy was it.

We played really good football that day,” said Rangel. "The atmosphere our fans created that day was amazing, and I’m sure they enjoyed the weather.

"The goals were fantastic too. Bony’s early goal really settled us and I knew Michu would finish his chance for the second.

"And de Guzman’s free-kick really rounded off one of the most memorable victories in our recent history.

"It was a great European campaign for us and a good adventure for all the fans, who followed us in numbers wherever we were.

"With the achievements we have had, that is one of the greatest days.

"Of course, the wins at Wembley are unbeatable, but the win at Valencia sits just below them. "

That was the best trip I've ever been on - read our thoughts on Valencia at the time here
