Williams Also Backs The Boss

The players are come out in support of an under pressure manager Garry Monk which is good to see them publically backing the boss but of course they do have to back him on the pitch with performances as well.

Hot on the heels of Andre Ayew saying that he is with Monk, captain Ashley Williams is stating the same today as he admits that maybe the players have not done enough of that in the past few weeks.

A run of just one win in ten games has seen the Swans fall down the league table and with a series of performances below standards, there is an anxiety that spreads through the supporters that Monk said did not help in the game against Bournemouth.

There are increased calls of a managerial change being due at the Liberty but that is looking like something that the players (or at least the captain) does not believe is necessary at this point in time.

"This is me coming out and backing the manager officially because I don't think we've done that enough," he said to BBC Sport.

"We back him, of course we back him. I thought about it in the week that we haven't really come out enough and said that we back him.

"I don't think we need to for him, because he knows that we back him. We speak to him a lot and he's working as hard as we are, or harder because he understands the situation we're in.

"We're trying to do it for him as well as ourselves. We see how hard he works and see he's coming in for a lot of stick at the minute."

Ash and Ayew have both backed Garry Monk, does he still have your support?

Brave Swans in memorable game at Carrow Road
It was a pulsating game to watch and very much one of my favourite away games of the season. The Swans looked an entirely different side to that we saw at Middlesbrough when it is clear a catalyst for commitment was agreed behind the scenes at Swansea City. To a man every player grafted and wore the shirt with pride. To see the players really acknowledge the Swans support at Carrow Road this afternoon was emotional.
