Liverpool await Pompey's young guns in cup

Pompey's youngsters have set up a visit to Liverpool in the FA Youth Cup.

They are on their way to face the young Reds after progressing to the third round of the Cup with a 4-0 win over Cray at Bromley.

They went ahead on 11 minutes when a Leon Maloney shot drew an error from the Cray keeper and Bradley Lethbridge seized on it to convert.

Maloney turned from assister to scorer just before the half-hour to make it 2-0 - winning a penalty when tripped in the box, and converting it himself.

Cray did have one or two half chances but it was the young Blues who were controlling the match.

It was 3-0 55 minutes with a nice turn and finish by James Whiting.

Cray then enjoyed their best period of the game but couldn't get one back - and Oscar Johnston added a fourth late on, leaving Mark Kelly and the rest of the backroom staff delighted - and looking forward to locking horns with Liverpool.

Pompey: Pitman; Kavanagh, Robb (Kelly 75), Mnoga, Flint; Whiting, Read (c); Maloney (Stanley 60), Bridgman (Teggart 60), Johnston; Lethbridge. Subs not used: Ridley, Bruce
