The nerves are jangling, the fans are hoping but the cool and calm exterior of Steve Cooper remains just that. In another of our Wembley features he talks genuinely on what tomorrow really means.
Speaking to the clubs official website it’s hard to believe he retains such a comfortable aura in the light of such a massive game. "Of course, this is why you are in the Championship, we want to get to the Premier League,” he said. "There are two ways of doing it, either automatically or through the play-offs, and we have managed to give ourselves a chance of getting through the play-offs.
"It would mean everything. The club has been there before, quite some time before I was here, and that journey was a special one, "Then it was taken away through relegation, and you have to re-establish yourself and rebuild with a different identity. "We have got to the last game of this season and given ourselves a 50/50 chance of winning — which is what a final is — and it is something we really have to go for. "It would mean everything to the city, it would mean everything to the club and everyone is aware of that. "We talk about it at length, amongst the players and staff, and it is a massive motivation to get the job done. "At the same time, we have to focus on the job at hand and what it takes to get it done; the performance, the mentality and winning the game. "I can assure supporters we know exactly what it means, and it is our biggest motivation.”
Injury update
"Wayne is out, he has suffered quite a bad injury unfortunately,” said Cooper. "That was last week in the second leg so he will not be available. "I understand the obvious next question from that is what happens with his future, but we have decided there are — in his words — more important things this week. "We will focus on the game, so in terms of next season we will pick that up with him next season at his request.”
Ollie Cooper will also miss out on a trip to Wembley due to an ankle injury suffered in training earlier this week, while Brandon Cooper and Tivonge Rushesha will also be absent. "Unfortunately Ollie Cooper also got injured this week with a very innocuous slip in training,” added the Swans boss. "He has been in the bench quite regularly over the latter part of the season, but it looks as if he will be out for a while.”
