Russell Martin “ We are ready for bids on all our players”

Swansea City boss Russell Martin knows exactly what he wants this transfer window. He has three days of what he describes as ‘chaos’ ahead of him, and the club itself has three players they are some way down the road in signing.

One of the players is rumoured to be in Swansea tonight for a Monday morning medical, which will be held away from the clubs training facility. The player has been in talks with the swans for two weeks. Russell Martin confirmed what many of us have been saying for a while now "We are ready for any bids for our players and we are also ready to go with ones we are looking to add." The hard work in the transfers Swansea want is now coming to fruition, the corridors of power at the stadium are tight lipped, and sources close to the club are particularly quiet knowing how important these deals are to the swans progress this season. Yesterday’s performance at Deepdale is testament to that.

There is no doubt certain players are going out on loan, Kyle Jospeh we know about, Morgan Whittaker was surprisingly left on the bench yesterday when the swans needed a goal, so he could still leave on loan. Liam Cullen seems to be another who could leave as well. Dan Williams has already been spoken to by Martin and is aware he is available for a loan away from the club. Loans aside bids are expected for Matt Grimes and Jake Bidwell, last week we were told the club expects bids for those two players to come in, plus Jamal Lowe is of interest to two other Championship clubs. Swansea City wouldn’t let Lowe go for less than 3 million pounds. The swans value Bidwell at around 500k, some way above the Middlesbrough valuation we broke last week. However, again two other Championship clubs are said to be interested in his services, so let the bidding for Bidwell commence.

Matt Grimes continues to be the real issue, Fulham are signing players in his position already, however they are still very interested in the deal the clubs agreed ‘in principle’ a six weeks ago. Like Bidwell, he is out of contract at the end of the season. Both players could easily run down their contracts and negotiate much bigger deals at other clubs next summer. Martin is realistic "We are going to be busy working hard. Hopefully we have something to announce by the end of it," he added. "The guys need a bit of help in a few areas. I think it's really obvious which areas."

Yesterday’s result has definitely opened Martin’s eyes on the vulnerability of his squad."The goals conceded today have really hurt me to be honest," he said. "I said to the guys in there, I can accept getting beaten if we are going to do it in our way and are brave enough to try to continue to be us, but that's not a way I can accept losing today. "Now we have some time to work on the training pitch and we'll look a very different team in two weeks' time."

We will keep you up to date with all the latest Swansea City transfer dealings as the next three days progress.

Brave Swans in memorable game at Carrow Road
It was a pulsating game to watch and very much one of my favourite away games of the season. The Swans looked an entirely different side to that we saw at Middlesbrough when it is clear a catalyst for commitment was agreed behind the scenes at Swansea City. To a man every player grafted and wore the shirt with pride. To see the players really acknowledge the Swans support at Carrow Road this afternoon was emotional.
