It’s the weekend Russell Martin has to deliver

I’m seeing the signs are you ? The extra shots, the braver football, the more dominance of the ball, and players not in the starting eleven being able to come in to the side and do the same, we saw that at Brighton. Yes, it’s all got clarity for me.

It must be very hard for those swans fans who desperately want premier league football back at all costs, be that financially or unethically. For me, it just isn’t like that. I wanted Russel Martin to come here, and when a poster mentioned his name in the manager melee of John Terry and Jody Morris I saw sense in the appointment. Personally, I thought getting Russell Martin and his coaching set up to Swansea City was a coup in itself. The finances were around half a million to do so, plus to carry on paying Steve Cooper. Then to support him in some excellent signings with more ability than we already had at the club was a bold move.

Olivier Ntcham proved his worth last Saturday at Luton whilst the hatters tried pathetically to clog their way to a win, the swans played some beautiful football and destroyed them in the second half. Again a team with nine changes, had they been more composed in the box did the same away at Brighton on Wednesday in the league cup. If anyone isn’t seeing progress at the club with a completely different way of playing, they are either doing it on purpose for a reaction, or don’t see the benefit in what the club is doing.

It’s blatantly obvious the football at Swansea is far better, and to say it isn’t based on the fact the results aren’t there is a bit short sighted. Okay, we all want three points every game, but we all signed up to this, buying tickets, going to games, involving ourselves in the social media, and discussions with mates. Yes, we all knew where this was going. The 400 or so hardy souls at Brighton are proof that the club has the right mentality and supporters to back Russell Martin to the hilt.

However, that said Martin too needs to recognise what he has on tap already at the club. It’s not a one way street. Morgan Whittaker and Joel Piroe are two players who should be linking up for a long run of games together, that would see rewards I'm certain.

Room has to be found for the likes of Morgan Whittaker, a superb talent

I’m personally looking forward to tomorrow’s game, it’s an opportunity to see improvement, and witness again those new ideas that are slowly coming off for Russell Martin. I’m also hopeful we see a few goals in the Huddersfield net. I say that because like many I too think it’s time to start delivering home performances that offer more than hope. Yes, it’s time for those many chances to start hitting their targets and adding to the weekly improvements, and quickly.

There is always a time in football for the talking to stop, much the same as it is for fans to do the same and support their sides. Tomorrow at home is a prime opportunity to do that. We all hope for progress and visible improvement, now we have to hope for goals and our club now has to deliver them.

Swansea City take on Huddersfield Town on Saturday afternoon at home, kick off is 3pm

Swansea City : Jesurun Rak-Sakyi update and Josh Key back up named
You won’t get anything of note from a football club during any transfer window unless it comes with a caveat that it is in their interest for certain things to be mentioned, proposed or even disregarded as a result of information given. Swansea City have a very tight unit of those who have access to information and any leak is easily traced.
Big match report : Swans let it slip again at Millwall
It happens a lot would be the recollection from the Sheehan era. Unfortunately It still happens is the comment on Vitor Matos’s stewardship to date. And that’s conceding goals at the end of games and halves. Having got themselves into a position to take a point away from the New Den an added time winner from Millwall undone all the Swans hard work.

On the treatment table this afternoon have been Ronald (ankle / lower leg) Josh Key (foot injury) Adam Idah (long term hamstring) Ethan Galbraith (slight hamstring tweak) and Liam Cullen who is expected back for Birmingham City. That’s the latest, but things change.
Swans scrap it out to beat the Baggies
There were some worried looks when Swansea head coach, Vitor Matos announced his starting eleven against West Bromwich Albion, not least the fact he had no striker in the team. It turned out to be a masterstroke despite a fifteen minute period in the second half, and some uneasy moments at the end of this Championship fixture.
