The South Wales derby is upon us !
Cardiff City most certainly are coming across as the most concerned about tomorrow afternoons game. Knowing full well that if they lose they will be remembered for losing to Swansea City twice for the first time in the history of the fixture. And yes, Cardiff haven’t done it either.
Whether Steve Morison was thinking straight when he told reporters about his interaction with Gareth Bale this week is open to interpretation. "I saw him every day he was here in Wales camp, I said 'hello' to him every day, all he said to me was ‘Make sure you beat Swansea!’, that's the only comment he made to me. Outside of that there’s been no conversation about that ( Bale signing for Cardiff ) I'm not someone who is going to get caught up in something that is — at the minute — a fantasy."
Morison may think he is in some way playing a form of mind game on the swans, but the remark was pretty amateur if that’s the case. It’s obvious that a Cardiff born player, like a Swansea born player like Connor Roberts would want their home city to win. As for Gareth Bale signing for Cardiff, if he’s that invested in them winning tomorrow maybe he should throw away any thoughts of increasing his quarter of a billion fortune and sign for free ?
Why not ?
Russell Martin responded with a similar comment from Connor Roberts, and of course if the majority of the Wales squad were canvassed most would fall down on the side of Swansea. Joe Allen, Connor Roberts, Joe Rodon, Ben Cabango, Ethan Ampadu, Ben Davies, even Mark Harris if he was pushed and not actually at Cardiff as a player.
But what does that prove apart from not a lot ?
The only points that need scoring tomorrow are the three that Swansea City need to make history in this fixture. They are the only ones that matter, and what Gareth Bale or Connor Roberts say matters not a jot.
The game kicks off at 3pm at the Cardiff City stadium, and isn’t being covered LIVE on the TV.
