Dimitrios Pelkas confirmed as linked to Swansea City ‘ Hannes Wolf update’

Dimitrios Pelkas the twenty eight year old winger currently at Fenerbahçe S.K. has been the subject of an inquiry by Swansea City. That inquiry has been confirmed as tentative and only to establish the players current value and availability this summer.

Pelkas, a current Greek international has one year more to run on his contract at the Istanbul based club, however there is an option for a year to be added this coming season. The other factor for Swansea City to consider is his sell on fee which Fenerbahçe would have to factor in regards any money move. PAOK Thessaloniki being the benefactors.

Speaking to the same sources who advised us of Hannes Wolf coming to Swansea last season the feeling is that Fenerbahçe would be content with recouping their initial outlay on Pelkas in 2020 which was around two and a half million pounds. As it stands that figure is way out of reach for the swans but a loan move isn’t. Discussions around any move would be protracted and not immediate. Hannes Wolf was a far easier loan move once his papers were cleared in France when signing last season.

We have been told that the Petra’s link is via a third party in Germany with strong interests in Greece.

It is very much expected that Swansea City will see players leaving before and after the season starts and finance from a sale or two would enable Pelkas to become more than of ‘interest’ That said Russell Martin is very keen to secure the services of Hannes Wolf again for next season. The swans boss made no bones about his value to the squad last season. Hannes Wolf would be very interested in moving to west Wales as well.

On the other hand Pelkas has a far more statistical balance to his game than Wolf. His key passing is exceptional along with his dribbling and holding on to the ball. That last quality something Russell Martin requires for next season. Wolf did take a while to find his feet at the swans but when he did he looked as good a player as the reputation he came with. The other factor is that Wolf having spent a few months with Swansea City has a good knowledge of what is required of him, and his temperament is exactly what Martin wants within his squad.

Hannes Wolf loved his time at Swansea living alongside Michael Obafemi and Jamie Paterson in the city. His girlfriend also took to the area very quickly. It isn’t a straight toss up between the two but if it is loan deals we are talking then Wolf we believe could be the favourite. That of course remains just talk for now. The swans know exactly what it would take for Wolf to make a swans return. And they now know the Pelkas situation, a player with undoubted ability playing at a high level.

Brave Swans in memorable game at Carrow Road
It was a pulsating game to watch and very much one of my favourite away games of the season. The Swans looked an entirely different side to that we saw at Middlesbrough when it is clear a catalyst for commitment was agreed behind the scenes at Swansea City. To a man every player grafted and wore the shirt with pride. To see the players really acknowledge the Swans support at Carrow Road this afternoon was emotional.
