Biggest test of the season for Swansea City in the Bank Holiday fixture against Burnley
Burnley travel down to Swansea today for tomorrow afternoons fixture, kick off at 3pm at the swansea.com stadium. Buoyed by a 4-0 thrashing of Watford the swans seem fairly geared up to challenge the best side in the championship.
The clarets have only lost twice this season, a 1-0 defeat away at Watford and a 5-2 loss at Sheffield United. They have drawn a few matches though, their tally to date is eight which will give the swans some hope tomorrow afternoon. However, the last eleven Burnley games has seen ten wins and one loss, and that was 5-2 to Sheffield United.
Scoring goals is what the clarets do best and they have amassed fifty goals this season compared to Swansea City’s thirty five. Below are the current stats for Burnley.
The swans will be happier with their forwards actually chipping in, both Liam Cullen and Joel Piroe scoring in recent games, the former having forced his way in to the Swansea squad and taking his chances perfectly.
Of course the swans will be inspired by Friday nights win, it was well deserved, but it really won’t count for much if they are on the end of a similar battering they had at Turf Moor back in October. The game was effectively over at half time with Burnley leading 4-0. That score line stayed the same in the second half and if you recall that was the game Joel Piroe was sent off earning himself a straight red.
A return to that type of form would be a devastating blow to Swansea City. On the back of an excellent win there’s no way the swans should be seeing this as a free hit, it’s possible they can turn Burnley over. However, and this is the talking point, the swans are twelfth in the league, just one point away from the play offs. Surely that’s sufficient incentive to press the clarets all the way in front of a bumper crowd ? This season’s championship is madness.
The swans took a battering at Turf Moor in October
With the clarets in such hot form the favourites will be the league leaders tomorrow without a doubt. Vincent Kompany below, has his side playing some great football but maybe more importantly they are seeing out games to earn the points.
We will hear from the managers later today and hopefully will have some transfer news as well.

Swans scrap it out to beat the Baggies There were some worried looks when Swansea head coach, Vitor Matos announced his starting eleven against West Bromwich Albion, not least the fact he had no striker in the team.
