Swansea City to talk compensation for Russell Martin after he agrees to join Southampton

With a variety of the majority ownerships social media accounts now deleted ( it is Sunday after all ) the Swans hierarchy are about to enter in to deep discussions on the compensation for Russell Martin and Matt Gill plus unnamed staff with Southampton.

It’s no surprise and really now the intensity of Martin’s leaving is just about to be really felt by a certain section of the Jack Army. Regardless of opinion Martin will also be looking to bring in a few Swansea City players in to the Saints dressing room as well. Of course that really can’t happen until June 10th when the domestic transfer window opens, but agreements can be made in lieu of that date.

We covered the expected interest by Southampton this morning.

That’s here –> Swans in-depth

Now this is almost certainly a start if the end game we can also reference the players Martin will most likely be interested in joining him at St Mary’s. We would be very surprised if nothing materialises as Martin is keen to regain support in the dressing room for his methods which can be taxing at times on players mentality.

That’s here –> Swansea gems to Saints ?

The Swans as we reported this morning are not jumping in to this blindly as they have already researched a replacement for Martin during his horrendous run earlier on this year. We understand he was two games away from being sacked before his ten game unbeaten run started in March.

We will keep you updated as News reaches us on another summer of soul searching.

Swansea City : Rak-Sakyi chances improve dramatically
The Swans are still in a kind of limbo today as they look to at least seal a deal for out of contract defender Joel Ward this transfer window. And the news is ‘It is going to be a quiet window’ There could be movement in the academy but as it stands two young players of interest are not anywhere near to signing professional terms.
Swansea City : Jesurun Rak-Sakyi update and Josh Key back up named
You won’t get anything of note from a football club during any transfer window unless it comes with a caveat that it is in their interest for certain things to be mentioned, proposed or even disregarded as a result of information given. Swansea City have a very tight unit of those who have access to information and any leak is easily traced.
Big match report : Swans let it slip again at Millwall
It happens a lot would be the recollection from the Sheehan era. Unfortunately It still happens is the comment on Vitor Matos’s stewardship to date. And that’s conceding goals at the end of games and halves. Having got themselves into a position to take a point away from the New Den an added time winner from Millwall undone all the Swans hard work.

On the treatment table this afternoon have been Ronald (ankle / lower leg) Josh Key (foot injury) Adam Idah (long term hamstring) Ethan Galbraith (slight hamstring tweak) and Liam Cullen who is expected back for Birmingham City. That’s the latest, but things change.
Swans scrap it out to beat the Baggies
There were some worried looks when Swansea head coach, Vitor Matos announced his starting eleven against West Bromwich Albion, not least the fact he had no striker in the team. It turned out to be a masterstroke despite a fifteen minute period in the second half, and some uneasy moments at the end of this Championship fixture.
