If the case, that's one of the relegation places sorted.

FFP as it stands is a crock of sh*t.

But something like FFP probably needs to be in place to stop clubs simply going bust and reforming by some million/billionaire buying the remnants for peanuts.

Football aside, that left all sorts of businesses in the lurch - local companies like office equipment suppliers, cleaning contractors, plumbers, electricians... anyone who did any business with clubs that went bust will have been bottom of the pile and lost out big time.

Current FFP rules mean the rich get richer and the poor clubs remain 'in their place'. Perhaps that's what the big clubs want.

But if a rich benefactor wants to come in, buy a club and spend whatever he/she wants, why not - as long as the club, other clubs (from whom they buy players), players, staff and all suppliers are protected?

Perhaps a fairer way to do things would be for owners to lodge funds with the footballing authorities each year, covering their exposure to debt. So, if Melchester United is £120m in debt, their owners would have to lodge a further £236m with the EFL Escrow account in the eventuality of their going bust. If they're only £90m in debt the following year, they'd get £30m back from their Escrow account.

It might also have the effect of owners being a little more circumspect in their spending, possibly taking some of the heat out of the increasingly ridiculous transfer market.

I know, pigs might fly too...

Noticed that expensive brum signing David stockdale has joined Southend on loan

Either he’s gone to play for peanuts or they are trying to hide players from the efl

If Southend are paying his wages then ffp police will enjoy a trip to the seaside

Speaking to somebody in the camp at Birmingham last week when we were up there, reckoned Stockdale drives a Rolls Royce to training

Not quite problem solved.
We know from experience that wages alone from current contracts can easily dwarf income and could, if not covered by a still-participating owner, bankrupt a club within a season.

Good point.

The latest set of FFP or Sustainability Regs give the FL far reaching powers, that is why Birmingham are potentially facing a points deduction. Their ultimate sanction is expulsion from the EFL, UEFA’s is the same.

We were charged under the old rules hence they could hardly punish us under the new rules. But the point I am trying to make is that whatever the FL dreamed up if it was deemed illegal by the court then there would be nothing the FL could do

They have to go with a harsh penalty otherwise no one will fall in line with these rules, 15 points seems a hell of a lot but so was a 40million fine, i imagine they'll appeal and get it down to 10 points
