I used to go and watch the youth team when they played at Guinness', brazier came through at the same time as Gallen, quashie, dichio etc.

I think a minutes applause is not always the best way to honour a former player but tonight,possibly it is.

I remember studying when he was playing for the r's. One girl I knew mentioned him when I said was a QPR fan as her boyfriend at the time was related to him. Sad news and passing at a young age. RIP. | | | |

I was also lucky enough to see Matt play many times for the youth team and he was a fine player with good skills and a great attitude.
Didn't get to see much of him in the first team as I moved to Ireland but I was delighted he made it.

A minutes silence was held prior to kick off. They also mentioned a member of the backroom staff passed away on Sunday aged 31. Matthew leaves 3 young sons. I remember watching him come through the youth set up as a 15 year old. Was in the youth team that won the league and cup double alongside Gallen, Dichio, Challis etc..... watching him as a young teenager and speaking to him he came across as a very decent bloke, very polite and an all round nice human being. He had been struggling with the dreadful illness and he has been taken far too early. RIP. | | | |
