Brentford Tickets Disgrace !
Brentford Tickets Disgrace !
Wednesday, 13th Apr 2011 10:56

Saints have been allocated a paltry 1,800 tickets for the trip to Brentford.

Before we start lets get things right here, certainly Saints have done all they could have done to try and get more tickets and im lead to believe that Brentford themselves have tried their best to help, but this decision is made under police instructions.

This means that Griffin Park with a capacity of over 12,000 will be barely half full for a game where Saints could probably have filled the ground themselves.

The police have probably decided that it would be a risk to allow a large number of Saints supporters to attend, but I would say where is the risk, certainly Chelsea, QPR & Fulham all near neighbours of Brentford have far more visiting fans to their games, surely the real risk is of many ticketless fans turning up and trying to get in the home ends, indeed this is likely to happen with many Saints supporters living in London or within a short drive of Brentford in the north of Hampshire, the security risk is heightened by this, surely better to accomodate a large away following and police it as happened at Orient, not to mention the problems caused by large groups going up without tickets and not being able to get into the game packing the local pubs and drinking too much, many more police will be needed to contain this than in the ground.

In this day and age with football clubs struggling to survive, its ludicrous that football supporters cant get to see a game when there are seats available.

Sorry is this complaint from the same club who would not move 100 Saints fans so that Brentford could sell more cup tickets a few years back after we had sold out our allocation...what goes around as they say

re1 you are dead right now I come to think of it, I was at the FA Cup 5th round tie in 2005 and there were Brentford fans in the home end because of the poor allocation they were given, the wheel turns full circle......

Ryan dickson is playing really well now after being left out for months. I rated him when i first saw him in a pre season freindly against Reading but adkins obviuosly didnt.

Ryan has been outstanding last 2 games for us.

No!! Not played enough for us which has always baffled me, I think he is a class act and can't understand why he has not been a regular for us.

For the cup tie, Brentford declined the full allocation offered and then decided they wanted it at the last minute, to do that it meant moving two blocks in the northam so would have been about 1-500 saints supporters.

Back then i said that it was wrong, but two wrongs dont make a right and im sure your club would rather have another £60k in the coffers from selling us an extra 3,000 tickets that score petty points

Saint Nick, you are partly true, we sold our allocation quickly, and Saints wanted us to pay for another 2k of tickets outright, and tough if we didnt sell them all, Brentford wanted to not have the upcomingmatch an all ticket game, but police have insisted...we need the cash !

Again getting near the truth, Brentford when the tie was announced were told the policy was that they could have the first batch of tickets on a sale or return basis, ie the normal 3,200 allocation usually given for league matches, the other third of the northam end is usually occupied by home fans and to give Brentford the extra tickets it would mean displacing them, at the start they were offered either the sale or return 3,200 or an extra 1,000 on a guaranteed sale basis, at that time they told us they would take the initial amount and would not require the extra.

In the week preceeding the game you sold your 3,200 and then came asking for more, but by now wth only a few days to go and over 1,000 sold in these blocks it was too late to do anything and with 25,000 tickets sold there wasnt much room left in the ground to move what were at the time our most vocal fans. Our average attendance that season was just under 32,000

The situation now is a lot different, when i went to Griffin park last year, one entire side was virtually empty probably only around 100 people sat in it, we have asked for more tickets four weeks before the game not four days.

The situation n

What business it of yours what we sell, how many we have in a stand and how many tickets we give you? What goes around comes around, Brentford FC made it clear to Brentford fans that it wasn't prepared to sell its a*** to you by giving you home areas...
Really looking forward to childishly point out every Southampton fan to old bill and stewards that appear in our ends, just like families and kids were subjected to at your place in that FA Cup game...
We're really looking forward to welcoming you to this one.

It's our business when the tickets go to ballot because of insignificant numbers-we could sell 5000+ for this, shame your club won't profit. Enjoy your 'childish' big day out.
