This season, probably not, Cork has better players with more movement around him and is having a good season to be fair.
If you put Mesa here last season, or in Burnley’s team now, I think he’d be the better player. If you put Cork here now, he’d be passing sideways.

You often see Mesa throw his arms up later on in games. It’s a bit unprofessional, but it’s because people just aren’t making what he considers obvious runs when he is looking to get a move going. We’ve got a lot of steady eddies in our team and you need that, but we don’t have anyone to burst forward or make a clever run for someone like Mesa to pick out.
I can pretty much guarantee that if you played Cork in a central midfield three with Clucas and Carroll, he would get slaughtered on here after the game. | | | |

At last. Someone who understands. At the moment the dullards (not Trampie so much, he doesn't even like football, just plaid cymru) like Darran can't see that he's virtually the only player wanting to take responsibility. The others like Carroll and Clucas seem to be to afraid to make mistakes and Fer only plays when it suits him.
When I first saw Mesa teamed up with a good hold up centre forward (Bony) I could see just how good a player he could be for us. So now not only does he have a hiding midfield around him he has lost Bony up front to give him options going forward.
And let's not forget, the man accountable for Mesas slow start in the PL only got sacked this week. I hope any new manager recognises how good he can be and instructs his colleagues to give him the options he craves. Also hope Bony gets back asap.With Mesa firing he may well save us this season. | |
