Agree 100% - but be ready for a stern telling off from Saints Fan 73 šŸ˜€

Article in the Echo recently stated that we were going back to proper red & white bar stripes for next season so just hoping they donā€™t jazz it up too much and we end up with something similar to what is in the link - I await the wrath of SF 73ā€¦ šŸ™ƒ

Palace ready to be picked off
at 21:17 6 Jun 2024

When talking about Liveremento before the start of the season that has just ended Nick used an expression that has stuck in my mind, he said that the PL clubs would not allow Tino to stay at Southampton - sadly I think Palace will suffer a similar fate to Saints the summer the cartel (mainly Liverpool) as good as dismantled our team, likewise, I can see the cartel clubs ā€˜not allowingā€™ the best of the current crop to stay at Palace.

Solent Toffee, are Everton doing any extra games / events after the last PL game? Or is. It too early to tell? After the Arsenal game Saints had Doddā€™s testimonial, then the last ever game, a farewell game against Brighton, our first ever opponents at The Dell, then the very last event which was a formal dinner in a large marquee on the pitch. Ended up with a good mate sat in the dugout very late in the evening with a bottle port raising multiple toasts to many a famous ex-Saint. It was a great way to say goodbye to the old girl, an occasion that will live long in my memoryā€¦

VAR
at 20:24 6 Jun 2024

I notice that in the build up to the vote one of the scare tactics adopted by the PL in the briefing documentation was that if the clubs scrapped VAR there would be 100 more wrong decisions per season (made by refs, currently corrected by VAR) - of course, they totally failed to mention the plethora of wrong decisions made by VAR or the failure of VAR to intervene and make any decision on occasions when they could and should have done. I contend that those errors or inactions would probably come close to equalling the 100 wrong decisions the PL claim that VAR corrects. Very one sided briefing from the PL; not that they needed to have worried, vote went 19-1 in favour of retention with just Wolves voting to scrap it - it will be very interesting to see how many positive outcomes Wolves get from VAR reviews next season šŸ˜€āš½ļøšŸ˜€

Saints Release Key Dates For 2024/25 Premier League Return
at 14:32 5 Jun 2024

Nick, may I respectfully suggest for either Saturday 5th April, midweek or Saturday 12th April that we add Bait The Sk8 Day to the list - one of those will be the day when it becomes mathematically impossible for them to remain in the Championship thus returning them to their rightful place in the nether regions of the Football League šŸ™‚āš½ļøšŸ™‚

Ticketmaster database hacked
at 18:52 1 Jun 2024

For some reason I thought it was Ticketmaster that was the 3rd party who posted our tickets out, perhaps not on reflection so I have edited the original post.
Must be having a senior moment after all the recent excitementā€¦
Likewise, I use PP a lot for that extra layer of protection to my debit card when buying online.

I suppose if you wear an EMF hat to SMS you would stand out from the crowd, therefore would it be true to say youā€™d be seen but not herd? šŸ™‚āš½ļø

Agreed, it would have been great to see them go head to head over the hat on Amazon - I reckon Dave Gorman might even have turned it into one of his Found Poems like he did with the God Particle

Or the debate over Sat Navs v Road Maps

I reckon the guy complaining about the EMF hat just had it on inside out šŸ˜³

This is just one of 115 charges against City
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-12248483/amp/Manchester-City-

Probably the biggest stitch up has to be their inflated 10 year stadium naming / shirt deal with Etihad Airways that was put through the books at Ā£400m when a directly comparable deal with Arsenal by rival airline Fly Emirates for 15 years, not 10 years, was for around Ā£90m. The clear assertion is that through funding from third parties the Emirates deal has been over inflated massively by background funding City under the guise of the Emirates deal - trouble is, try proving it when City say they are co-operating with investigations but are not. The article below is as much about the airline as City so there is a second one below.

This article is also quite interesting - and in our recent admin restructure didnā€™t we recruit one of Cityā€™s financial team šŸ˜®

Potential points deduction
at 14:45 30 May 2024

I think we should be OK as it is a rolling three year period and in that time we will have had a better season prior to the two bad ones then 12 months on a much better season after the two bad ones. Bear in mind we had a nine figure income from player sales plus the parachute payment which is a real plus point now we have gone straight back up. The PP (first year) equates to more than some cartel clubs earn from the Champions League in a season so that helps. We also shifted some high wage earners off of the books. JWP was Ā£5m a year hfor starters. The other factor is how well structured the transfer fee payments were and/or the lengths of contracts the waste of money players we panic purchased were on as you only have to declare an equal percentage of the purchase price per financial period over the duration of the contract. So, if Ocanuchu was Ā£20m and on a 4 year contract we would only show Ā£5m of the purchase price on the 22/23 seasonā€™s books and another Ā£5m on the 23/24 seasonā€™s books ectā€¦ Thatā€™s why Chelsea were signing expensive players on 8 and even 10 year contracts until either UEFA or FIFA put a stop to it - now 5 years max. It might be close but I think what we managed to shift out the door permanently by September plus the PP will see us through.

If we donā€™t get a clearer view then perhaps ex-Saint Terry Paine may be in the know or failing that, as a last resort, we will have go to Man U and consult the Glazer family šŸ™ƒ

When they had the SMS ground breaking ceremony the club sent an invite out to the London Saints Supporters Club. I attended on behalf of the LSSC, it was quite an interesting day despite the ground being little more than a construction site with the Northam end not even started on. The guy from Barr Construction giving us all the tour explained that theyā€™d future proofed later expansion by sinking foundations that were strong enough to cope with expanding any or all of the stands so any future expansion would be a lot easier and more cost effective than it would be without the forward planning as they wonā€™t need to strengthen the foundations to increase the capacity. From memory, there were various different options depending what was added on that increase the capacity to 38,000 or more depending how much was done. So, maybe any modest expansion wonā€™t break the bank, given the pre-planning in place it will be more affordably achieved.

Season Ticket Prices
at 19:05 28 May 2024

No idea as yet, as an example, BHA adult season tickets are Ā£595 / Ā£620 / Ā£710 / Ā£860 / Ā£965 - similar size ground.
Out of interest, Boscombe go from Ā£379 family, then adults at between Ā£633 - Ā£875 and the equivalent of our Kingsland stand padded seats on the halfway line Ā£1093. Really good kids and OAP concessions given their limited capacity.
By the way, have you seen this? The Saints bolt on packages for season ticket holders??? Iā€™ll have two of the Platinum packages (not) šŸ¤©

Bas Dost was my shout to replace Pelle, sadly I think that ship has sailed now; back in late October the Eredivisie match between AZ Alkmaar and NEC Nijmegen was suspended just before full time after Dost collapsed as he was making a run towards goal. The medical staff rushed to attend to him and players on both teams created a human shield as he received treatment. Glad to see he recovered after hospital treatment but looking at his stats show he hasnā€™t played since due to heart problems. Great shame as he was a player the PL definitely missed out on. Every bit as good as Pelle, if not better - why we signed that cart horse Carrillo in 2018 and left Dost in Portugal where he scored 76 goals in 84 games (2016/19) for Sporting CP I will never know.

Could Adam Lallana Make A Surprise Return To Southampton
at 15:05 28 May 2024

Now a third report of Ings returning to Saints, apparently it was on Talk Sport this morning as reported by Kingslandstand1 on his Dragon thread. Hhmmmā€¦ Che out, Ings in as a replacement? IF Ings stays fit, and thatā€™s a big IF, then I reckon heā€™d probably score more than Che at PL level but I canā€™t see this being cheap so a bigger risk than Lallana who will be in on a free and not huge wages. Iā€™d imagine the Ings camp will still want top dollar when it comes to wages and bonuses. Risky business IMOā€¦
