That was superb Ale was great as the interviewer, so relaxed and natural, you could see the mutual respect for each other and we obviously just love Ale's passion for the club....

Yup I understand that but surely there's a possibility we could look at how Steve Gallen is working at Millwall and use that as an example, they are buying and selling players and appear to have got stronger each season, surely that shows it's possible to do both otherwise your just marking time and will never progress.

Excellent post Field is as good as Varane and should have been given some games alongside Madsen, he was made the sacrificial lamb after the Coventry debacle and then just used as a reserve left back which is obviously not his natural position.

Well the Manager picks the team and for what ever reason Field was not seen as first choice, yes we know about his limitations but as a defensive midfield player he is very solid and adds a lot to the team. Hes adding to Norwichs strength in midfield which they were missing and they are looking stronger as a team, sadly he will feel that he's no longer wanted and that a move to the Norfolk countryside will be very appealing.

We need a Director of Football, somebody with experience who can guide our young CEO, it doesnt have to be an expensive appointment it could even be on a part time basis, we're looking for a man who knows how to get a team promoted and NO I think the option of asking Sharon's permission has long gone.....

QPR being sued
at 09:40 13 Feb 2026

Thanks some interesting details, the more you read the more complicated it becomes because going on people's comments on here he wasn't going to achieve Championship level and then whose to say how long a career he could have achieved, there's quality players all over the league suffering injuries that are potential career ending.

The facts posted so far point to the fact he was racially abused at Crawley, it's all down to how responsible are QPR for the player once he's accepted the loan and what people like Chris Ramsey told him at the time.

QPR being sued

Jeez having to sell players to settle the claim that sounds scary, fortunately as a few people have said there's a lot of he said this, he said that where you will literally be unable to substantiate the evidence unless they have witnesses, which is not beyond the realms of possibility.

Whatever happens it will drag on for a long time, the amount of money is ludicrous but they have intentionally set it high in the hope of getting something, probably hoping for a low six figure sum.
Presumably this involves a no win no fee company as I can't see ABM being able to fund the costs, surely the club needs to get Nick de Marco on the case, that could possibly prevent it dragging on for a long time.

Hackney may be the star but getting Alan Browne on loan from Sunderland was a masterstroke in itself, such a quality player, he was always pulling the strings when we played Preston. I'm hoping over the next few weeks Stephan gives Morgan more of a chance, there's a player in there and whilst we have injuries a three man midfield is not the worst idea.

Field to Norwich
at 02:57 3 Feb 2026

Agreed he's not been given a chance by Stephan, everything I've seen from the stands this year makes me think he's a better player than Varane, we've seen his quality over the years we know what he brings to the side, he has his limitations but then Varane definitely does as well.

I always thought Varane was being selected as first choice to raise his profile, aid his development and put him in the shop window, if we want to get a decent transfer fee for him then that won't happen if he's always on the bench.
Varane is younger than Sam so can potentially generate a higher transfer fee, we need to generate some decent income and Varane has the potential for that although these mythical transfer bids have never materialised.

It's a real shame Sam's going but he wants to play regularly or at the least be in contention for the starting eleven, it could well be that Norwich showed some interest and that Sam was keen to take the opportunity as he knows he's not in contention with Stephan to start games.

If the club think we have a chance at the play offs then we should have kept him but again it's down to what Sam wants to do, it's no good an unhappy player within the squad, it's only a loan with no obligation to buy, people saying he could never play for us again now, I tend to disagree Field comes across as a person who will give 100% wherever he is playing, good luck Sam and Thanks.

Surely the point was it's not Madsen keeping Field out of the starting eleven, they are totally different types of players, we have three Senior DCMs in Varane, Field and Hayden and the manager has chosen Hayden to replace Varane.

The decision to let Field go will be monetary as Watford rightly says he's probably at his peak and the business model needs us to let players leave and I think we're all guessing that Sam is getting fed up being a continual bench warmer.

It's the message board we all have our opinions, it's difficult to judge Field this season, he's not been picked they have prioritised Varane and left Sam on the bench, it seems we're trying to develop Varane in the hope he makes us big money, it's the business model which will work if you pick the right players.

I get Watfords reasoning, there's no point in holding onto Field if the club/Nourry doesn't see a future for him and at age 28 his value may well be at his peak or as he puts it heading the other way, as you can tell I think Varane flatters to deceive but there's still development in him and he could make us good money yet, it's a real shame that FFP forces us into these decisions.

Mmm well publicised a lot of click bait but nothing material and the click bait said they were prepared to offer a loan for Varane with the potential of a permanent if they get promoted, he's not better than Field and Field is more versatile.

Madsen hasn't consigned Field to the subs bench, the continual picking of Varane in front of Field has consigned him to the bench and I always thought the reason for that was to sell Varane, but then you can't sell players that nobody wants.....

Absolutely he's a better player than Varane but our Director of Football apparently knows best, Field is incredibly versatile which makes him a great squad player, we should be selling Varane, but then probably after all the Click bait it's a case of nobody wants Varane.

Oh just thought a smart move by Norwich Kenny Mclean is now 34 so he's probably getting to the end of his Championship career.

If we really have to sell/offload how about getting rid of the too many No10s, its just a case of somebody actually wants Field, maybe that tells you something.

Well it was because he deserved a chance to see what he could do, second in command to Warburton doing a good job. Hoos and Ferdinand presumably made the decision thinking we need to go in a different direction, sadly they were suckered by the two faced one with the PowerPoint.

Eustace has gone from strength to strength and been very brave leaving Blackburn for Derby having confidence in his own ability but it's ALL water under the bridge again, let's stick with the positives.

True the St Etienne deal as reported is a joke, we need money on the table, I still think Varane is picked ahead of Field because we believe (Nourry) that there's more value in a 24 year old and it's very difficult to get a good sale if the player is on the bench, I still rate Field as good as Varane they are both limited in seeing a forward pass but Sam for me has the edge defensively.

Well if the club does that then they Nourry has totally lost the plot, the idea is buy players, develop and sell, making sure you have cover for them.

It's Varane who needs to be sold hes at an age where he will command a decent transfer fee, we have cover in Field and Hayden, I personally don't see a better player than Field in Varane they both do the same job.

We are supposed to sell players at the right time, not hold on until it's too late, let Varane go we have cover.....

Exactly I said whilst watching the game his legs have finally gone, which at 36 is fully understandable, he's been a great player but please let's not have a repeat of the Johanson transfer.
