True the St Etienne deal as reported is a joke, we need money on the table, I still think Varane is picked ahead of Field because we believe (Nourry) that there's more value in a 24 year old and it's very difficult to get a good sale if the player is on the bench, I still rate Field as good as Varane they are both limited in seeing a forward pass but Sam for me has the edge defensively. |

Well if the club does that then they Nourry has totally lost the plot, the idea is buy players, develop and sell, making sure you have cover for them. It's Varane who needs to be sold hes at an age where he will command a decent transfer fee, we have cover in Field and Hayden, I personally don't see a better player than Field in Varane they both do the same job. We are supposed to sell players at the right time, not hold on until it's too late, let Varane go we have cover..... [Post edited 21 Jan 15:16]

Exactly I said whilst watching the game his legs have finally gone, which at 36 is fully understandable, he's been a great player but please let's not have a repeat of the Johanson transfer. |

I've received the email but I'm currently on holiday and haven't been able to read all the documentation, is there a closing date for applying if you want to chose the 3 or 5 year option.......Thanks |

Exactly we have put Varane in the shop window for months because he's at the age where we would get a good fee, I still think he's no better than Sam Field, so we sell the one who makes us the most money. Surely that's the logical process if we are trying to follow the Brentford/Brighton model, make the most money and I was guessing that was Nourrys thinking, we have to sell players for decent fees. Offloading Frey is a no brainer, it's just can we get a transfer fee for him which will help with the future FFP calculations. [Post edited 18 Jan 4:19]

Spare a thought for all the thousands of people with Urology issues, you certainly don't walk around with a sign on your back and then there's men with prostate issues, it's not about being shy for a lot of people. Yup there's queues but people are doing it because they need to not because their a fan of George Micheal or want to take a hit on some Charlie, the Rs are my choice of drug. |
 | Forum Reply | Sell Jon Varane ? at 04:04 14 Jan 2026
If we're not careful we're going to get in the exact same position as before, not selling a player when we have the opportunity for good money, until the mythical day arrives that we achieve promotion we have to be a club that buys players, develops and sells for a profit. Any permanent offer of £5 million has to be accepted we can't be that picky or we lose the deal,Varane has been made first choice to put him in the shop window, we have more than adequate replacements in Field and Hayden, it's similar to the Brentford model only the fees are now sadly reduced. |
 | Forum Reply | GREAT EFFORT TODAY....... at 15:15 12 Jan 2026
That's the point he's filling in at left back, totally not his natural position because we've been left very exposed in that position. It's all about opinions for me Sam is as good a defensive midfielder as Varane, he can also play centre back, in an emergency play left back, that makes him very versatile and you need that type of player in a squad, particularly when injuries start to bite. |
 | Forum Reply | Sell Jon Varane ? at 10:43 11 Jan 2026
Yup I get all that I'm in the camp that Varane is not better than Field so we can afford to let him go, that doesn't mean I don't rate Varane as a purely defensive midfielder. |
 | Forum Reply | Sell Jon Varane ? at 09:45 11 Jan 2026
Really now your getting into the realms of fantasy, Varane has been prioritised from the start of the season because he is at the right age to get a decent fee providing he is playing in the team and not on the bench. We have two other defensive midfielders who do exactly the same job and it's all about buying improving and then moving them on for a profit, I'm definitely in the camp we should sell providing we get a decent fee. |

Agreed what he needs to do today is pick an extra midfield player and change to 4-3-3, we lost the game in midfield against Norwich let's not repeat the process. My fear is that JS will say he needs a week on the training ground before making that sort of change, if so he needs to realise he has some very experienced players in the squad who theoretically can adapt to a new system. |
 | Forum Reply | Kone at 09:25 3 Jan 2026
Agreed it's time for a change to three midfield players, personally I would go with Field, Morgan and Madsen, there's a combination of talents/skill sets they all have strengths in certain areas, plus some fresh legs in a very busy Xmas period. So we can all see Burrell needs a rest, let's puts him on the bench for a couple of games and start with Kone as the main striker, we lost the midfield battle in the second half against Norwich let's try and avoid that against Wednesday. Truly baffling why anybody would dislike Smyth, he's a true work horse on the pitch, one of our only wingers who understands that you need to support the full back. The same week where he signs a new contract and everyone who posts on LFW seems very pleased, the person posting this abuse is a total loser and let's hope he's banned very soon by the club, that's if he even attends games. |
 | Forum Reply | Kone at 09:36 2 Jan 2026
Agreed I also watched him more closely first half and he won a lot of the ball, shielded it and brought others into play, he was nowhere near as bad as some people are making out, if we're not careful we end up treating him like Paul Furlong who as we all know eventually came good. |

RND heres a possibility Myke, Sheffield United have already told us that they are recalling him in January so we've decided Feck it let's just play him every game. [Post edited 28 Dec 2025 9:55]

Third from bottom on 19 points with a two point gap , hardly cut adrift but their fans are obviously seeing the signs. Rowett knows the division and has the ability to ground out results, can't help feeling that with their resources he has done a decent job to keep them in the division so far, unless they have some funds for the new manager in January it could well go from bad to worse. |
