Do we not all want the same thing?
at 17:34 24 Feb 2026

Yup, about right. By "we" they mean "you"!

There was one of our many weekly meetings recently and one person must have said "expectations" about a dozen times in two minutes. Yes... we got it, it's important....

same at my work.

"collaboration" and "meeting expectations" are used so often it's losing any meaning and just becomes pandering vomit inducing.

translations;

- "collaboration" = "do what we tell you"

- "meeting expectations" = do whatever it is they want regardless of how late, disorganised, incompetent etc they are. It's your fault if they make a mistake.

Millwall away, both tiers
at 11:32 23 Feb 2026

We're not breaking any rules, if anything we were giving too many seats to away fans (15% if both tiers filled out) whereas now it's pretty much bang on the 10% required.

Our lower tier is now populated with home fans, there's is empty.
If they are happy to lose out on revenue then more fool them.

Man Utd with 74k ground only have to give 3k to away fans (4% of capacity), yet in the PL we were giving that at Loftus Road which was 15% of capacity.

As long as we can fill the lower tier with home fans then why not.

Forgot to add, my MIL is a ‘feeder’. I understand most granny’s want to spoil their grandkids and that’s fine on an occasional visit but when they stay for three months each year it gets a bit much. I’ve asked for them not to be kept being given food all the time but it gets ignored. And yes, I probably eat more than I should but she gets offended if you don’t and I have said “don’t cook so much then”. This time around i simply only eat half the mountain of spag bol that gets dished up.
In our local recreation ground there’s a twice weekly food charity thing (not a food bank) where they collect food that’s either just hit it’s sell-by date or a day or so over. People go and collect and donate. She’s obsessed with it! Usually first or second in the queue and comes back with a tartan-trolley of stuff then puts the guilt trip on us to eat it so it doesn’t go to waste. I’ve said to not bring so much back then, but that gets ignored.

I think its a cultural thing, she comes from a background where things are sparse and food is the only way to show you can provide. Plus the men folk tend to do manual work, and need the calories, whereas i sit on my ‘arris as 99.999% of my work is computer based.

It’s one of those situations where when she’s here she does help out with stuff (cooking, taking kids to school and pick up, dog walking etc) but the cost of that is the aforementioned.
As the kids get older and both can go to and from school on their own (my son can already, my daughter has a couple of years to go) then maybe we’ll start reigning it in. We managed fine when she couldn’t visit during covid.

Yes, we save money by not paying for our daughter going to childcare for 2 1/2 hours each day after school but that is offset by flight tickets, electric increase, food etc so we do it more from the ‘family’ aspect rather than any supposed financial gain. Where she lives gets to -15/-20oC in winter so it’s a respite from that as well as other issues shes faces at home.
We do worry when she goes back but we’re equally relieved, bless her!

Never met my FIL as he buggered off out of my missus life when she was about 12.
He passed away a few years ago. Great mosaic artist by all accounts but succumbed to the demon drink (vodka).

Mother in law stays stays with us for about 3 months (goes home next weekend) and it’s fine on the whole. Sometimes it gets a bit stir crazy and we all have good and bad habits so with three adults, two kids and a cat & dog, it can get a bit tense sometimes but mostly ok. She still talks to kids like they are babies (and the dog too) which annoys me (and them).

A Hulluva Hard Game Match Thread
at 14:36 21 Feb 2026

I’ve given up reading these threads during the game. There was one recently where we went a goal down early on (oh the temerity) and it was all doom and gloom, players and managers getting pelters and we ended up winning.

That’s football. Always has been and always will be. It’s why the bookies are rich.

When my kids are going batshit crazy, I say "they're like zebedee on acid". And that's the one from the magic roundabout, not the football factory.

I'm sure we all want the same thing for QPR but how we get there is extremely varied (choice of coach, starting XI, subs, tactics etc.) hence the discussions before, during and after each game and people (and I'm meaning everyone), understandably, can be very firm in their views hence differences of opinions.

Thing is, none of us have any control over any of it so sometimes it goes a bit OTT IMO. It all becomes about ones opinion being right (and again, I'm talking about everyone) and we just have a magic roundabout going around and around and around.....

Arsenal: Digging Up.
at 20:01 17 Feb 2026

What is the point…. I mean really, what?

In the last 20 years at Highbury they won the League title 5 times, the FA Cup 4 times, the League Cup twice and the UEFA Cup winners cup.

In the 20 years they’ve been at the Emirates they have won the FA Cup four times. That is the sum total of their majors honours.

Not sure how a few extra seats will turn them into the domestic and European powerhouse they want to be.
Hundred of millions of pounds for an extra 10k-20k seats which, once extra match day overheads factored in, will yield an extra 30% income increase (at a guess).
Most of those seats will be for tourists anyway. There will be a token amount for those on the ST waiting list but that will be done begrudgingly.

Sounds good, doesn’t it. Except that once done and you are about to sign a new coveted player, the agent will go “you want him? price has gone up 30%”. Same for any contract renewals.

Then you have a squad of players all costing 30% more than 2026.

So, you just stand still. As the lady alluded to about Highbury, the stadium then hits another ceiling (“financial anchor”) and once that’s maxed out, then what.

Ok, some may argue you now have the cream of the crop of players. Well, what happens when you’re not winning silverware (sic) season after season that kind of outlay demands.
At best you have a very disgruntled fan base (more than they are already) and at worst what happens if attendance actually drops, you’re in the schit now that you weren’t in before at 60k capacity.

Games gone, innit.

Just don't shave until QPR win 5 games on the trot (not done since the early 00's) and you can become an irrelevant tw@t on social media.

QPR being sued
at 17:14 12 Feb 2026

I've been on jury service once many years ago and 5 days of going through the case, witnesses (who really weren't able to offer anything of use), defence & prosecution going through their sides of the situation and it really all boiled down to the defendant's word against the accused's word, how can you prove who is right and who is wrong?

You can't so we had to give a verdict of not guilty. Not because the accused didn't do it but because it could not be proved they did and to this day, either side's story is equally plausible. It wasn't clear, even without proof, who was correct.

EFL clubs to vote on expanding Championship playoffs to six clubs

So when this is implemented, then what? What's the next great idea that they'll come up with? (because they will)

How far down the table can they go before it become even more ridiculous? At this rate Sheff Weds might have a chance of promotion.

THOMAS FRANK SACKED...
at 12:04 11 Feb 2026

This is not a case of hindsight but unfortunately he was always going to fail a lot sooner than normal. A combination of Spurs being, well, Spurs and what has already been said about players/fans inflated ego's but I also think certain Managers are suited to bigger clubs and other managers are suited to not so bigger clubs. IMO Frank falls into the latter.

However, when a club like Spurs shows interest I think any Manager owes it to themselves to give it a go if offered. Plus, as always, the financial package will outweigh what he was on at Brentford and he won't go hungry now he's sacked (not that he would have anyway had he stayed at Brentford).

How are they going to work out how 6 teams can get into a final of 2 teams?

Yet again, Execs pi$$ing around with stuff 'cos they can't leave things alone and need to keep themselves in a job.

Maybe he decided that this was his only chance to be able to play for his boyhood team and that surpassed any other criteria.
He may have gone to Man City and won a few trophies and then regretted never playing for Arsenal regardless of trophy acquisition.

Man city vs Liverpool ghost goal
at 18:01 9 Feb 2026

What if the score was even? What would/could the consequences be for not allowing what most likely would have been a winning goal and two extra points?

What if City missed out on the title by 1-2 points?

This is the problem, too many if's, but's and maybe's and the whole point of getting VAR in was to cut a lot of that out but seems to have got worse.
