Most people would have given their right arm to be able to say the season is done in February, at the start of the season. Its progress its not 2011 and we dont have Adel Tarrabt so to expect us to go from relegation battlers to playoff contenders in a single season is a big ask. Lots of positives this season, we have strikers, Madsen redemption arc, return of Ronnie. Undone by squad depth which a club of our size is never going to have And you never know it only needs a run of 3 wins on the bounce and you are back in it with a fairly easy run in, Given the forthcoming fixtures unlikely but we tend to do better against the better teams |

I thought it was useful interview, I had not considered for example the logistical problem of not having anywhere to store enough lights to cover the pitch when not in use. |

I predicted 1-3 this morning with my mates it was a classic QPR result I thought for the first 20 minutes Blackburn were absolutely dire and we should have taken the lead. But Kone was having an absolute stinker from the off and we had no real final ball. All of their goals were very poor. RND had a terrible match and that meant Cook was getting pulled to the left and it was leaving a massive gap between him and Dunne which they exploited. The second goal god know what Saito was doing in the 6 position. Overall 1st half it felt very much live Madsen v Blackburn as the team was having a stinker. 2nd half very surprised not to see changes at half time, Hayden was very lucky to stay on the pitch and I thought we might have seen a change there and I would have hooked both wingers and put Smyth and Kolli on. Third goal killed the game only Dunne knows why he just watched the ball and did not pick up his man. A couple of other thoughts. Whilst there might have slightly more grass on the pitch today it was incredibly bobbily and ball control throughout was really poor. Bennie had a tough game First game in a while where the defence have not had a big striker and could just head and clear and it really showed the weakness in the Dunne, Cook partnership. The only real positive from the game, was Harvey vales set pieces (bar the sliced corner) after Madsen went off. I think he is the only player we have that can whip a corner or a free kick in at pace and really him and Madsen should share set pieces a bit more in my view The bench is really bare hone. it comes to alternative attacking threat that could change a game, bar Kolli there is nothing. |

They started the other way around with Saito on the left Smyth on the right. But Charlton got in twice on the first few minutes down the left and were very physical down there and we switched it for defensive reasons. I'd give Saito a pass for those reasons absolutely not his game last night, physical and direct and he was coming back from injury. He had an impact last week coming on against Coventry when we needed an attacking impetus. |

Classic good Dykes performance, a real handful in the air and physically, woeful in the box |

I do think what the opponent does, has some impact on us. Last night Dykes was causing us real problems, Charlton were very direct and very physical, because Dykes was winning so much in the air and Kelman was running beyond to win those flicks, it pulled us really deep 1st half, to counter it so we could not get out and the attackers were isolated. We started with Saito on the left, Smyth on the right and switched after 5 or 10 minutes because Norrington Davies kept getting exposed and needed more protection. They man marked Madsen and Vale and made sure it was always Hayden who had the ball in space. 2nd half we pressed to stop the long ball / cross field ball and the defence pushed higher which allowed us to take back control of midfield and get Madsen and Vale more into the game Walsh had a good game, but concede any of those bar the Coady chance and we would be complaining. We actually defended really well and Cook had an epic game, as did their centre back marking Kone Jones deserves credit for his gameplan, Stephen deserves credit for his adjustments 2nd half. And he nearly nicked it. We do struggle against the more direct scrappy physical teams, whereas we can dominate physically against the more technical teams. Would have lost that game last year [Post edited 7 Feb 17:01]

100% and as soon as Kolli came on and played that role, with Bennie Hugging the right we were much better. But look you have to credit the opposition they were very physical and direct, we saw a typical Dykes performance dominant in the air could not score in a brothel. 2nd half we were much better especially as they tired. Given how little we had available on the bench. End of the day you will always take a point away from home |

Being outmuscled here, too slow on the ball, the advanced 3 have all been very poor. Would have Kolli on for Vale and Bennie on for Saito myself. Hayden needs to be a bit more physical this game would have suited Varane. Ronnie has been pretty poor as well. Need to start winning our battles and being a bit more positive going forward |

We turned down Luton for Morgan loan, Stephen said at the beginning of the window there were a couple of players who were looking for moves because they wanted more minutes. Good luck to Sam I'm not sure he will get many more at Norwich though |

Its a loan isn't it? Field's problem is that for the first time since Beale he's had a new manager come in, in the summer rather than mid season and if there is one thing you can say about Sam Field is that he is a slow starter, usually poor in pre-season and early season then comes to the boil in late autumn usually when we are in the shit. He was absolutely rancid in this years pre-season and the first games where he started and you can see why a new manager would look at him and say not for me especially with 2 other options for the same spot. I am saying that as a big fan Add Rolls Royce Ronnie and that's 3 players who can play for the same spot. at 27 he needs to be playing so good luck to him, you know he will be great wherever he goes especially in a January window. |

It was right in front of me, I thought at the time and still think having seen the replays that Smyth threw himself down (yes there was contact, but the contact did not fell him) |

From my view in W I thought Smyth threw himself to the ground, having seen the replay there is some contact with the knee but I still think it was not a pen, would be given under VAR no doubt but you would be disappointed if that was against us. Also on Hayden, I thought he was excellent a real key component for the win [Post edited 1 Feb 17:07]
