Wondering whether you can get a decent England XI of QPR players. Rule is they mustโve got England caps while playing for us. So farโฆ Seaman Bardsley Parker Fenwick Thomas Francis (c) Venables (i think?) Sinton Ferdinand Bowles Missing a left back. Any ideas? Sansom not eligible. |

Weeelllll, I wonder if Bellingham should drop deeper. That's a problem position, and he can play there, and he'll still get up to support the forwards. Then you can play Foden in the middle and Gordon or Eze on the left. Bellingham played quite deep a lot of the time anyway, I don't think it would have an enormous effect on his game. |

Well, the last manager who dismissed the rumours very openly, and got a flag for his trouble was Honest Mick. Managers are far better off saying nothing, and I don't blame them. |

No not at all. I have no idea, that's my point! As for people at the club, I'm talking about where fans attach blame for the signing. Some will say Beale, some will say Belk, some will say Les - truth could be any or two or both; so if someone says 'well, I heard it was all Beale's doing from someone at the club' it might not be reliable, as that's a convenient scapegoat to have - although it could also be true, so it's pointless to try and blame one person or another because it's almost impossible to really know exactly what happened. And, yes, perhaps it's all Belk's/Les's/Beale's/Ramsey's fault for not forseeing the disaster- but ultimately it is up to the player to be a professional, isn't it? Not sure what I said to elicit such a sarcy response, but you got the wrong end of the stick there - I'm certainly not claiming to be ITK. I did know someone very well who worked at the club for many years, and he would occasionally tell me things, but I soon realised some were true and some were his interpretation that would be disputed by others. Here's an example. Think it's safe to tell. I know a journalist who was speaking to a player of ours years ago, at the time we sold Dean Parrett. He said to the journo that it was a dodgy transfer because he saw Paladini and Gregory laughing and hugging and being delighted just after it went through. You'll remember at the time that we were all gutted Parrett left, and this played into the feeling something nefarious was going on. With the benefit of hindsight it seems to me that, if this did happen, it's actually more plausible that Gregory had orchestrated the whole thing, talked Parrett up (which he did), talked about getting him in the first team at what, 15, 16 (which he did - talk about, I mean), and managed to get ยฃ1m for a player that, ultimately, he knew would not make the grade. And he didn't. So perhaps they were delighted for getting such a huge figure for a teenager he actually didn't rate, and it was vital money for the club at a time where it was (as per) skint. Now, the player told my friend that story. That's a fact. But who is to say whether it happend, and if it did, what the reason for their delight was? Everyone has their own truths. |

Agree, and we should also remember while we say that sunderland look like a nightmare, that the club he came to 9 months ago were pretty much the gourmet equivalent of half a big mac run over by a bus and lying in the gutter. |

I'd disagree with the last point unless it was a very big offer - like most managers, I suspect he was very keen to get to England and, eventually, manage in the Prem. |

Yes, if only serially successful football manager Cifuentes could have seen what the average fan knew well before him, everything would have worked out better. I expect he expected the players to do much better than they did. Was this not the game he showed them at half time the 20 times they played the same wrong ball? |

and there's my point, plenty will seek to blame Beale, others will blame Belk. No one knows and even people at the club will seek to jump on one side or the other. Also, rather than blame staff, there's only really one person to blame, and it's the man himself. |

As with any pile on, no one really knows. They think they know, or someone told them, so they know it's gospel. Everyone has their own truths and their own axes to grind and their own arse to cover. |

He was about the same or longer for our job ;) - Critchley was 50/1 when he got it. Bookies follow the money, they don't know anything more than us. |

I agree, but I remain sceptical we'll get another striker. We only play with one, and we have three already. We can't afford to have 2 on the bench and one not even in the squad. One has to go before one comes in, I suspect. And I can't see anyone taking any of the three we have. |

agree with much of that, but he was offside once in that game, and only twice i think in the second half of the season. He did make huge strides in that area. |

i doubt many clubs will be queuing up at the moment tbh. |
| Forum Reply | Tottenham friendly tickets now on sale at 09:55 12 Jun 2024
Decent prices for kids and juniors, bit steep for the rest. Got to say, haven't been to a friendly in years, find them absolutely deathly dull and fans get WAY too excited/angry about the results of them (although, to be fair, last summer we were all absolutely right to be terrified!). Hope it sells out though. |
