After he was taken off Hill stood next to Harry, encouraging the team, shooting away, came on before extra time to take part in the huddle, roared the crowd on before going back to take up position. He wanted that win, badly. Hope when he hangs up the boots we keep him on to coach - and maybe more, later on - as he's a great example: a committed player, who when Warnock bought him was expected to play half a season at best. May not be the quickest any more but never gives up. |
There was a shot of him on the bench a couple of minutes after he went off. He looked so uncomfortable and on the edge of his seat - it's not often you see a player looking so much like how we all felt.
It seems pretty clear that Clint knows he's coming towards the end of his career, and he said last week he wants to stay here and coach, even one day be the manager if he could.
It's not my money, but I'd give him a three year deal tomorrow - one more year playing as a player-coach kind of thing and then integrate him into the coaching structure. Class act. |  | | |

People might not realise, but in the bronze medal game at the London Olympics, he was in front of a crowd of 56k, playing against South Korea's national rivals Japan while the two nations were embroiled in a nasty row over some poxy islands. Just to ramp up the pressure even more, the team were promised exemption from military service if they won - so no faffing around on the North Korean border for god knows how many months while the maniacs in charge up there play around with gulags and nukes.
So...he does indeed have experience of at least one big game. Even with that under his belt, bet he hadn't seen that type of jubilation last night though. |
Absolutely right. Regular squad member of national side. Has played in front of huge crowds in Seoul. A lot more experienced than most realise. Does not get fazed by the situation and the big games. Play him at Wembley, he won't let us down. |  | | |

Birch was a coach with us, Furlong is, and both Wild Thing and My lord are managers
The question is whether they will ever be good enough to coach us. Personally, though wont be liked on here, I would like to see JB step up, but the one I admire tremendously is Ned... well educated, congenial and a fantastic role model |  | | |
