single malts 23:20 - Oct 24 with 4356 views | kingsburyR | This board us a wealth of knowledge (or a bunch of liars). A good pal of mine is coming to stay and he loves single malts. He's no expert so I have a chance to impress. I want to buy a bottle with a budget 40 -60 quid...Help! Was going to buy a bottle of Highland park in sainsburys but will that impress? ?? Any suggestions welcomed.

single malts on 23:28 - Oct 24 by smegma | Fearless is your man. I remember a very long trip to Huddersfield by train with him extolling the virtues of single malt. It was a very long day with many a drink imbibed. We got relegated as well that day. |
Very memorable day that Chris (not only in a good way of course) As many have said on here, I'd go for a Macallan myself. Mrs F has just been to the old bushmills distillery and returned with a bottle that's next on the list (whiskey not whisky) For a hipflask - I personally recommend stagsbreath ( speyside and honey) as its lower in alcohol content and sweeter - this will horrify some purists and get me lynched, but I like what I like This may be of interest: http://www.shortlist.com/instant-improver/food/5-myth-busting-ways-to-improve-yo
single malts on 10:40 - Oct 27 with 836 views | robith | I prefer Irish to Scottish, but Macallan is the absolute nuts. Had Macallan 30 year old at a wedding in Scotland in the summer. Just the £30 a glass (someone else paid). Saw a bottle in one of the Soho booze shops, a snip at £1,350. Also, personal thing but I much prefer 16 year olds to 10. 10s I find very harsh on the palate, but 16s have a nice caramel twang. Then a lot of distilleries over age - Macallan the only thin I've had over 20 years that was any good. There's also been an explosion of Irish distilleries, about as many in the last couple of years as there have been in the previous 50 - in about 10 years they're all gonna hit the market. Heard it here first

single malts on 11:35 - Oct 27 with 805 views | Metallica_Hoop | Had a lovely Scottish one a few years ago with an unpronouncable long name. It came in an old skool bottle like a 17th century one jund of embossed. Does anyone regognise it from my shit description? Anyway c'est manifique. When Tesco's have Jura on sale I indulge that. I like the peaty one.

single malts on 13:55 - Oct 25 by onlyrinmoray | Living in the main whisky producing area of Scotland I should be an expert but Im not Depends on taste but Speyside Malts are the smoothest for us non experts, the Island west coast malts are very peaty and too strong for my palate So Highland Park (Orkney ) Aberlour, Glenmorangie, Macallan or The Balvenie 12 year Doublewood which Im currently sipping are my recommendations Loads of whisky tourists come up here to go round the distilleries Swedes Germans Japanese etc etc |
Just got a bottle of Aberlour in Sainsburys for £20 as its on offer and xmas is coming.
