M'Vila and Remy 23:15 - Jan 14 with 2769 viewssdm1508

If we get these two, what do you think potential team and formation will be? With the extra mobility that M'Vila offers I think we could see a 4-4-1-1 a lot of the time. Mbia and M'Vila to break up play and Taarabt just off Remy to create. When we don't have the ball Taarabt to drop back to make an extra body in midfield. The money being spent on Remy makes me think he will start every game so probably no more false 9 for Adel. Won't put Adel on the wing due to the efforts SWP and Mackie put in.

I'd say that's basically it, sdm. The only question being how he fits Livermore in.

I think the telling part about what he's trying to do was one of the answers in the press conf on Saturday.

HR said something about wanting to be able to also play a more attacking game against other teams. I'm guessing he feels M'Vila will help to dominate the middle more so there'll be more chance of going 4-4-2 or 4-4-1-1 at times, whereas now the midfield isn't strong enough.

I think Livermore and M'Vila will form the centre mid two, whilst M'bia fills in for Nelson.

Tarrabt free role off Remy, wide two up for grabs but Mackie probably likely to start, I'd consider Fabio and Traore if they can work on the same flank together

Very sceptical French Football correspondent on Talksport re these two coming to QPR - doesn't see either of them as suitable for a Premier League relegation fight, believes they will have release clauses should we go down, thinks London life and money is the draw rather than joining us for any other reason, puts them in the Premier League shop window for next season.

Remy described as "a Thierry Henry type player", likes to play on the wing rather than through the middle. M'Vila apparently is a defensive midfielder who "likes to pass it rather than put his foot in".

Sounds like a hell of a gamble...

Where does Cisse come into all this?
Could we play al all French forward line with 2 strikers up front?
Or will Cisse be moved on to pastures new?

I think I would hang onto him till at least the end of the season. Keep the one striker up front (Remy), and once he has done all his pressing & running around for 60 - 75 minutes, bring him off & throw in Cisse to keep up the pressure on the opponents defence.
Obviously, the likes of Betty, DJ, Bobby Z & Andrew Johnson will see less first team play, and I would be inclined to sell or at least loan 2 of them out. AJ obviously not, but Betty could be sold & DJ loaned to see if we will need him next season in the Championship.

It's not what you've got; it's where you stick it.

unfortunately thats where we are,we have to gamble or just accept we are going down.Arry is probably on a massive bonus to keep us up so he is going to gamble until the window closes.

That's the danger, it's going to possibly take 10 games for Harry to get the formation right.

We have been grinding out results by packing out the midfield with workers and no outright striker. This will possibly have to change.

I would like to see a forward 3 of Taarabt, Cisse, Remy but I can't see Harry dropping both SWP and Mackie just yet.

Maybe I'm by myself but I don't want these two anywhere near our club. Why one of them is choosing QPR over Newcastle other than for the money would back this up. 80k in the championship? release causes with massive financial hit (postion of weakness) - no thanks.

Should I be worried?

I don't think that Harry wants Cissé but I suspect that he does want a fully fit Zamora to lead the line. The team sent out to win games could look like this:

Cesar
Onouha. Nelsen. Mbia. Fabio
SWP/mackie. Livermore. M'Vila. Taarabt
Remy
Zamora

Except that Nelsen is about to go on a Canadian voyage, so we could replace him with Hill; heart 100%, ability <100%, but still better than Ferdinand & Ben Haim.
So no Granero or Faurlin?
I still think we need that sweeper role, the 'back of the diamond' player to sit in front of the back 4 like Derry, or M'Vila from what I have heard people say.
Still looks like it lacks bite in midfield though, who is the enforcer? Plenty of attack in Mackie & Taarabt, but I don't know what type of player Livermore is and who Harry thinks he will replace.
I agree that Zamora can still do a job for us, when fit and is a better partner than Cisse.
I do think it's worth the risk of getting in both M'Vila & Remy, as well as Livermore on a 6 month loan deal. It's all very well shoring up the defence, and the management have done a great job there, but you cannot win games without scoring and this is the area we desperately need to address next. 1 point per game will probably not be enough to save us, even if we don't concede another goal this season.
Mark Hughes attack options have either petered out or just failed, so we need a change to mix things up and see if we can get some wins under our belt.

It's not what you've got; it's where you stick it.

M'Vila is a quality player and I'm amazed that no-one has gone in for him. Saw him against England at Wembley and looked top class in a French side that was meant to be in disarray. Not sure what has happened to him since then apart from the issues with the national team. Both players should be signing for a top 10 club but then we seem to have the money so let's just hope they come with the attitude to get us out of this situation.

Should they sign and this goes for anyone we may get, attitude is the key and also hope they respect the other players otherwise we are back where we were under Hughes.

Assuming (and its a fair assumption) these are here for the money, they still have to perform because if we do go down and they flop who is going to take a punt?

That's what I am hoping anyway.

someone will still take a punt, as they wouldn't have peformed at a club rooted to the bottom of the table. Their qualities will still be there.

However, clearly we would be taking a loss in transfer fees as they'd get sold on for far less.

It will only take 10 games to get it right if Redknapp is signing the players with no idea where they are going to play as Hughes did. If he signs them with a plan in mind then it won't take as long to click.

Personally I thinK Remy will play on the left, Taarabt up front and if we sign Odengwenge or however you spell it, he'll play on the right. Livermore, Mbia and M'villa in midfield.

im glad we have the owners who are taking a chance , both players wont suddenly
lose there value after a few games with us even if we do go down this season,
so yeah we spunk some wages until may but if they do come in and score goals and help clean sheets and we survive how much extra money does the club make next season with the new sky deal ?

how many times in the past have we said if only we had a couple of players, MH fecked up big time harry is doing his best with the owners help to get us out of it

we havent been able to say that to many times in the last few years have we !

I'm against spending big this window but these two are at a good age and have a sell on value so they are better signings than the ones we made in the summer.

It shows you something about QPR and the way it has been run that we are on the verge of buying a young established international, coveted by the likes of Arsenal and Tottenham, whilst also beating another larger club to the signing of a striker valued at 22m just last year. Both from a top European team and both with good sell on value.

And I feel terrible about it.

If the mooted signings all come off:

Cesar
Mbia, Nelsen, Hill, Fabio
Livermore, M'Vila
Mackie, Taarabt, Odemwingie
Remy

Onuoha probably in at right-back with Mbia moved centrally when Nelsen departs, unless another centre-half is brought in during the window.

I would imagine that is the team that HR has in mind, but hopefully the new players will have to win their places from the likes of Derry and a slowly improving SWP et al rather than just waltzing into the starting XI

These signings don't really feel me with excitement. I have no idea if these are great or troublesome players, or if they have the stomach for a relegation battle, but paying out £15m in transfer fees, and probably an outlay of something close to £8m annually in wages for the pair, just doesn't feel like the right thing to do

we could always stick with what we have no strikers and chance are arm with staying up , spend another 15 years in the lower leagues and hope we get promoted

MH fecked up harry is doing his best to try to sort out the problems , so far so good for me they have resale value if we do go down so its a risk but not as bad a risk as some are making out

Very true.. not long ago I was excited about signing Tommy Smith now Im not happy about signing the 2 French internationals.

They are course only here short term, just like Cisse. We QPR fans are never happy Its they way the Premier League is

You realise if we get relegated we will be back to 12 midnight/ and occasional tea time spots on the TV again.
