Bayern Munich - Guardiola - A good fit? 12:32 - Apr 25 with 642 viewscoolranger

Watching Bayern's high intensity, energetic and physical style, complemented by no lack of technical ability, I wonder how Guardiola will fit into a club who play very differently to how Barca have under him?

What will he add to this Bayern team? Surely he isn't going to impose the 'slow death by eternal tic-tac passing' game on a side that has already established a very successful and attractive style of their own?

It may not quite work. Not sure there is a cultural fit here. Presumably the Germans have a plan though.

Well he has just bought Mario Gotze whom I would have imagined that he would have tried to sign if he was still at Barcelona.
Maybe this is the clue to the way they will try and play.

if you think Barca beat teams by a slow death of tic-tac passing, I don't think you watched them very much, or you're confusing them with Spain. They are extremely fast and attacking - that style f pressing the ball fast and high up the pitch and in all areas that these German sides are using is really what Barca did at the height of their powers.
I was at Wembley to see them utterly destroy Man U in the CL Final. It was one of the most breathtaking games of football I have ever seen. Simply superb.
Guardiola should be fine there.

Bare bones.

I personally think Guardiola's chosen another ridiculously easy job - the best team in German, in fact Europe now. Already have a lot of talented technically gifted players and plenty of money to spend.

Should get a few more league titles, cups and a champions leagues title out of them to add to his CV.

he did an amazing job at Barcelona, yoyu only have to watch them since he left and before he came in to see what he did with that group of players, he'll take Munich to the next level, I can see them dominating for as few years

Would still take Mourinho over Guardiola. Why?

Mourinho is proven now in four different leagues - great period for Porto, took Chelsea to the title, won the treble in Italy and La Liga in Spain.

Guardiola is unproven outside Barcelona and one can argue he was blessed with an amazing talent within the Barca squad. He has it all to lose with Bayern. If they win the CL on top of the Bundesliga then where does he take them and why change the style they have used this season?

I'm more of a Pep Guardiola man, Mourinhio is a great manager but is always looking for an excuse when it goes wrong and I've never been a fan of how his teams play either.

I doubt he'll go in and try to change Bayern, he'll just look to improve them

I think no matter what Pep achieves at Bayern there will still be question marks over his credentials. I would have preferred to see him take on a club that needed former glories restored (yeah, like us :)) such as one of the bigger Italian teams or Liverpool, perhaps even Arsenal. I hear what you're saying DaveB but I think he inherited a very strong set-up from Rijkaard regardless of his achievements at youth level in player development and style.

Poll: What's our back 4 for Wembley?

I'm have a feeling he wanted to go to Arsenal. He had been learning English for years, he said he wanted to work in England yet turned down Chelsea, and it was a reasonable expectation that Wenger would be gone by now.

I suspect him turing down Chelsea was more about how they are run as a football club. The manager is not really given any respect. They sacked the man that won the CL less than 6 months later. There's no stability, there's no serious community like there is at Barca. I suspect it was more about just not trusting Abramovich. Doubt he was that desperate to go to Arsenal.

Bare bones.

I meant that we know that he wanted to work in England, and we know that he didn't want to go to Chelsea (as he rejected them).
