What a dreary season it’s been 11:25 - Nov 25 with 4434 viewsdiver

There is not one decent team worth watching in division one this season so called big clubs like Sunderland and Ipswich are disappointing. The absence of Bury and Oldham this season has made the season really flat and dull.Relegation to division 2 would not be a disaster at least we would be playing Salford and Oldham and possibly we might win some home games !! we desperately need Bury back there demise has hit us hard.

I think you'll be waiting a while until we play Bury. More likely to encounter Halifax or Stockport first...

Dreary OP

Were you at Old Trafford? And we're still in the FA Cup

It sounds more like you've fallen out with football in general, since L1 is pretty much how it's always been. I could agree about our home form not being encouraging, but despite the result some of the football we played against Portsmouth was of a pretty decent standard and far better than watching L2/NL

Pretty good day out at Bolton too, if it's derbies that get your pulse racing, and we've got the home game to come. After 19 games, "it's been" a start that needs improvement, that's all

"our home form not being encouraging, " you can say that again! We have now played 56 home league games since the start of the 2017 /18 season and won just 15 of them. We should be paid for turning up to watch.

No need to update the running total on our home form since the start of 2017/18 after each match, we know the score

I beg to differ. Please maintain the update, it helps provide a vital perspective.

Our home form is going to have to improve in January.
Even at this stage of the season there are three "must win" six pointers on the schedule that month.

All this nonsense is just getting boring now. The amount of fans who just shout complete rubbish all around me has now ruined my match day experience. What are you expecting?? We have no money, and the club refuses to spend in such a way that will risk the long term future of the club, a philosophy which I am very happy with. Yes we're in horrendous form and not playing well but you can't say the players and staff aren't giving everything and we're still 16th with it all still in our own hands. We also have a ridiculous injury crisis at the moment. To say you'd rather be in League 2 playing the likes of Crawley, Cambridge and Stevenage is utter nonsense.

It as good as negates the whole point of this forum if, every time anyone dares criticise the manager or players, posters trot out the routine line about how we lucky we are to have a football club, it could be so much worse etc. What has happened at Bury and Bolton has added to this fatalistic acceptance/paranoia.

We all know and appreciate the constraints on how the club is run but what has that got to do with playing a right back at left back (Keohane); a 6ft 4ins centre-forward (Wilbraham) on the wing; clogging up the team with holding midfielders and the whole team playing so negatively?

And, btw, almost every club in the division has a spate of injures right now. I'd argue, Rathbone aside, that most of our lot are interchangeable and there is no significant weakening of the team.

The point of this forum is that when someone posts, others have the right to respond, just as you've done with your post

If you're implying that people don't have a right to respond in any way they see fit (within the law) - that negates the whole point of this forum

Out of interest, who would you have played left-back on Saturday? Granted we had a left-back in the starting XI, but he was starting at CB because we have 3 injured CBs (not a significant weakening of the team, no?) We could have drafted MJ back in there but he's been poor in that position and then that leaves us needing to play one of the incredibly inexperienced lads on the bench in central midfield.

The fact Keohane (who isn't actually a natural right-back by the way but has spent most of his career playing as a midfielder) was playing left-back shows how bad the injury problems are at the moment and how tied BBM's hands are - and in my opinion it's really not a reason to criticise him.

That said, I do agree that going forward a lot of our players are interchangeable and we do need to add one or two better options in attack.

Tangled up in blue.

To me I'd have swapped JK over with RND. RND is 1 of THE highest percentage of crossers of the ball in the division, plus a lot faster than JK, Get JK in the centre like at Old Trafford, at least RND can catch a winger that has gone past him.

I agree. I'd sooner seen RND at left back with Keohane in the middle than the other way round.

United were never likely to start playing high balls up to big centre-forwards though. Portsmouth started with Marquis and later brought Pitman on. To me that's a glaring mismatch if you put them up against Keohane.

No significant weakening of the team...

What a ridiculous statement that is, the bench on Saturday had Farleys Rusks at the half time interval....

That have ultimately resulted in lots and lots of lost games.. the keeper and the back 4 account for about 90% of them
