Which gaps need filling in the squad, players that would do a good job filling those gaps, that we could realistically afford.

Pretty simple list:

Goalkeeper
Rightback
Leftback
3 strikers

Perhaps a winger to round it off.

Goalkeeper
Right back
Left back
Centre back
Winger
Attacking midfielder
Striker x 2

There's no chance we get all that I don't think but the players I'd be looking at from the released list at present, even with some clubs not having done theirs:

Shay McCarton
Rhys Bennett
Neal Eardley
Cameron Borthwick-Jackson
Ethan Hamilton

No idea how achievable any of those would be but given we've announced we won't be looking at any signings till the EFL pull their finger out and make some plans, we wont have any news for some time.

I've a feeling Luke Matheson may find his way back on loan, I would also be doing my best to get Connor Ronan on loan as a Camps replacement and a goalkeeper on loan as well.

If I hadn't seen such riches, I could live with being poor

I can agree with Bennett, Hamilton and possibly Borthwick-Cameron, possible also mitchell, who can play left back and also left wing, who united also let go

McCartan is a no - no, I believe he scored 1 goal in 21 games for Bradford City last season and that is in league 2, his overall scoring record is not great, we need to sign at least 2 good strikers (who can score at least 10 goals at league 1 level) to make up for the goals that Hendo would have scored.

Neil Eardley has been a good footballer, but I would not sign him. There is a fullback at Burnley - Ryan Cooney, he played on loan at Morecambe last season and as also played 20+ times for Bury in league 2. He is apparently rated.

We need to at least
1 LB, 1 RB, 1 CD, 2 midfielders, 2 strikers

Connor Ronan would be a good call especially if we now have a good relationship with Wolves.

While midfield is an area where we are reasonably well served, Kieran Sadlier is on Donny Rovers' released list. Knows how to score goals, and is Anglo-Irish (born in Hemel Hempstead, was in the ROI senior squad)

I think the minimum required considering the current environment as well is

RB
LB
Camps replacement
Hendo replacement (This could be 2 strikers)

Additionally a Goalkeeper, Centre Back and an attacking midfielder or two would be nice to haves. I think the loan market will be key this year to bolster the squad.

Had just replied on the released list about Sadlier. I don't think he plays a role that anyone in our squad does at the moment, as he tends to play as a wide man in a front three or just off the striker more than the likes of Ryan/Lund/Morley would be expected to do. I would say he's a midfielder in name only really. If it's in any way realistic, he would be top of my wishlist.

Agreed. Guardiola famously shipped Hart out because he wasn't good enough with his feet so how would he fit in with our style of play?

I’d love to see Ronan come in on loan. He seemed to do well on loan at Portsmouth. I’d also love to see Hamilton sign permanently but I think we’ll have too much competition there.

I wouldn’t mind Donervon Daniels coming in, released by Luton, impressed while on loan here in a poor side and can play RB or CB. Also Devante Cole always seems to play well against us, just released by Doncaster. I think he’s achievable but fans of his two previous clubs say while there’s talent there, he doesn’t work hard enough.

As for wish list, similar to everyone else really! We need at least three forwards coming in, and a RB and LB. That’s the absolute minimum for me.

Asking Sheffield Wednesday about some sort of loan deal for Jordan Rhodes wouldnt be the worst idea. He isnt catching and seems to basically be sitting on his backside running down his contract. Next season is his last at Wednesday.. Now would be a good time to move and get some regular football (and goals) under his belt and put himself in the shop window.

The snag with Rhodes is that I understand that he's on 18k per week.

More chance of us singing Jonty Rhodes than Jordan Rhodes!!

Guys on about 5 times what Henderson wanted!

So? If he sits and does nothing , its costs SW 18k a week for the whole of next season. If he goes out on loan until January and scores a few goals, they save a few quid and might be able to sell him and get some more money back.
Rhodes has played in 14 league games for SW this season so far and scored 3 (hat trick Vs Forest) he hasn't yet played a full game. (subbed on 8 subbed off 6) total 628 mins. of league football
It seems likely that there will be lots of players looking for jobs and there is no guarantee that anyone will want him the season after next without some proof he can still score goals and certainly not on £18kpw especially if he has hardly played for the better part of 2 seasons. Going out on loan looks like a sensible career move.
Sometimes it pays to be cheeky !

Given the current climate I think what we need and what we'll get will be significantly different

Need:
GK
LB
RB
CB
CM
2 x Forwards

I think we may be looking at an even more youthful side though with just a couple of additions.
I don't think any keepers will be brought in.
At centreback, can see Dunne coming in to cover when needed.
Midfield we have Ryan, Morley, Lund & Ollie with Bradley as extra cover (Ideally we do need at least one more)
Up top I think we'll be seeing more of Baah, Tavares, Mulvey and potentially Thomas. 2 experienced heads would be needed as I think I'd rather go with the youngsters rather than Done and Dooley.

Realistic wish list on 15:47 - Jun 30 with 2417 viewsEllDale

I keep forgetting that we still have Matty Done.
I was convinced he was out of contract.
Just a bench player now though.

Hopefully playing the in vogue 4 3 3 possession is king football will mean Premier League and Championship clubs will give us serious consideration as a club to send loan players to.

Off the top of my head I think we've only got about 5 players who started from our game vs Rotherham who are still contracted to the club so a huge turnaround is needed. For first team additions I'd be looking at:
GK
RB
LB
CM
FW x 2 (arguably 3)

Don't know enough about individual players to write a wishlist. Said it before but I'm sure BBM will be making enquiries about Hamilton. Think ironically he'll be in less demand than last season- he hardly set the world alight this season for whatever reason so reckon we've got a decent chance of him signing.

Other than that I firmly expect BBM to continue strengthening ties with Sheff Utd and any other higher league club to get a few loan deals in. Also wouldn't entirely rule us re-signing one or two who were released once we know the details of next season.

EDIT- Harry McKirdy definitely has the ability to be a good player to us- not 100% sure that Beech will have given BBM a glowing recommendation of his attitude, though.

There is also another young CD (Jimmy Dunne) who we could try to get on loan from Burnley, he played on loan at Fleetwood last season.

I would love Luke back next season on loan, but personally I think Wolves will send him on loan somewhere else.

I think you mean Joy Hart, who also no longer has a club.

We may have to replace goalposts with drainpipes though!

I don’t know how anyone could be happy with only 2 forwards coming in.

We’ve just released 4 forwards (albeit 2 of them barely played) and had 2 more go back after their loans ended. We’re 6 forwards down on this time last month. We literally have no senior forwards. The absolute minimum we need to bring in is 3.
