I hope I'm not alone in thinking this statement is absolutely brilliant.

And, can anyone clear up how Simon's last name is pronounced?

I've heard his name pronounced more like "gorge"

That may have just been me on the podcast getting a little confused. It happens more often than I care to admit.

Tangled up in blue.

When the true story of what's been going on comes out, our favourite author Mark Hodkinson will be able to release a blockbuster.

The fans don't know we were days away from being sold to Martin Halsall aka Stuart Day.

The fans worked very hard to prevent that, successfully.

All those that were for this motion will be slain, by the fans.

They know who they are.

I believe he walked away because his identity was leaked which also upset the interim Chairman as deal was scuppered. What they didn't take into consideration is that the club has more leaks than a rusty old pipe and concerned fans then sprung into action as an army of miss maples. Thanks to Car park Snooper for the great pics 😂

Are they being put on sale?

Ps… pleased with the appointment, wonder if he is a poster on here?

Very odd. Why would revealing his identity make any difference when it would become universally known anyway?

That tells you it was not in the interests of the wider Dale supporting public to reveal the details. That said, sticking your car openly on the club car park for all to see, doesn't qualify you for the 'Brain of Britain' award.

Thank God it was scuppered.

Because he didn't want fans to carry out due diligence and uncover information freely available at Companies House showing businesses he is associated with having a nett worth of c. minus £1m, a tanged web of inter-company loans a la Day, a massively overdrawn directors loan account when directors took out c. £1.3m in dividends over the past 2 years, businesses with little or no cash at year end etc.

I wonder if he offered to buy out the boards' shares?

I was impressed with the interview just released.
Especially how he wanted to conduct, amongst other things, a review into “governance” of the club.

Again, no waffle, no bull shit, and no mention of the EFL or other individual clubs.

I wonder...

Imagine if he had somehow hatched a plan with the old Board to buy their shares, which would have given them a nice payout....whilst leaving all other shares worthless and other shareholders almost powerless

Surely our old Chairman and old Board Directors wouldn't have approved?

I wonder.

Fabulous to hear

What i really enjoyed about that intro was his sense of calmness amid what must be a maelstrom behind the scenes. No surprise perhaps, given his professional background!

As the new face of Rochdale to the media, a massive improvement on the bluster and empty rhetoric we've had to put up with and beneath the benign exterior i sense a steely determination to do the right thing by the club and its fans

Just think of ex-Northampton defender Wakeley Gage or Wimbledon & Villa full-back Kevin Gage and you won't go far wrong!

I think you mean Jane Marple of St. Mary Mead. Miss Maple was a tree!

But you're right - no stone unturned in locating shareholders scattered far and wide.

The only decent sized one we couldn't find was Zaf Mohammed 300. We think he lives in Swindon. Christ, some effort was put into that one and I know him to nod to in the Sandy, but all lines of inquiry drew a blank. We even asked the Burks for help!

Polish goalie Pete 500 was the best find in our investigations. Top bloke too.

I've got a more up to date contact list in my phone for the shareholders than the club have. Grindrod and Pockney need to take note. They're an EGM away from being popped off. And we're watching them.

Just out of interest how many of the listed 'shareholders' are actually deceased? I seem to remember reading a published list of names and there were plenty.

Unfortunately James it will decided by a reverse of the countrywide ticket and a circle with a 50 mile radius will be drawn around Spotland and any southerner living outside of it has no chance

Not as many as you’d think.

What 1 June proved was then number of 2nd and 3rd generation Dale shareholders there are from original shareholders who are now sadly no longer with us. As much as you recognise the faces, you also know the family names.

What isn’t up to date, as R17ALE alludes to, is the club’s shareholder confirmation at Companies House but the next one of those - with the details as of 14 June 2021 - is due by the end of the month.

Thank you.

As ever, once the Dale DNA kicks in, it's handed down like an heirloom and long may that continue. It's heartening to know that the tradition carries on.

There is one chap on the list with a few hundred shares who's been dead 11 years. A phone number was found for him relating to an address in Cutgate. His son answered and was very surprised when it was asked if we could speak to his Dad.

Maureen Peacock is still on the list. As is 1970's Supporters Club Brian Clough, who has over 1000 shares. Sadly, he too has vanished it seems.

Many larger shareholders (who are elderly) have stopped receiving notifications in the post when the club went on-line only. We found former Director Mike Mace's wife in Lytham for example. 3000.

Up to half the shareholders no longer live in Rochdale making it even harder to find them. Remember, all we had was a name from Companies House, plus our own knowledge of the fanbase. Some very old fans helped by chipping in with a "I keep in touch with him" etc. Eg: Ian Collins, who we were told goes by the name Bobby. Club won't know that!

The journey took us to the Holte End at Villa to locate a Villa fan who has a surprising number of shares 700 - located via the old Norden Chimney restaurant.

Polish goalie Pete 500 was found through his niece who works in Oldham who was found on the electoral register.

This was a real coming together of the fans pooling knowledge and contacts and we did it in a fortnight. We had to. Over 1000 working hours by a group of ten.

The arrogant board thought they could railroad their sneaky plans through an AGM/EGM thinking they had the numbers.

Now they know they don't have the numbers.

This is why it is vital anyone who can, buys shares when they next go on sale. If we ever get into a similar pickle again, someone will have to repeat the process.

What's more rewarding than regaining the club back, was the look of horror on the faces of those who wanted the scurrilous EGM to be passed. They know who they are. So do we. We won't forget.
