Pubs in Harrogate 08:00 - Aug 5 with 3456 viewsdalefan

As it’s a new ground for most of us does anyone have any suggestions as to where the best pub is for a pre match pint?

There’s a decent Wetherspoons, a conversion from an old spa building.

Harrogate Tap next to station is excellent. Converted railway building with 11 changing ales on handpump.

Edit: 10 pubs in 2021 Good Beer Guide. Anyone wants a photo of the relevant pages with beers/addresses send me your email address by PM

Nearest pub is The Empress about a 10 min walk from the ground and about 15 mins from the railway station

Is that the original spa building? It’s 25 years since I’ve been to Harrogate. Allegedly both Karl Marx and the Russian czar visited to take the waters on the same day back in the old days. At least that’s what they told me at the time. But I expect Betty would claim they were both at her place as well. I don’t believe anything those tykes tell me.

Harrogate bus station is next to the railway station , Bus route 7 to Leeds, leaves at 10 past and 20 to the hour and goes past the Football ground , or you can get off at Christ Church for The Empress

It is decent but it,s a fair treck from the ground , you would need to pre book taxis as it can be quite hard to get one straight away. I would advise going there after the match then maybe just up the road to Montey,s rock bar (opposite the Travelodge) or The Den on Cambridge Rd

Many are architectural gems, even if full of ancient ruins

Can't beat the ale for value

The nearest pub seems to be the Woodlands Hotel, not sure what it's like, but they're letting me stop in their car park overnight in my campervan

Got to admit I forgot about the Woodlands , it not a pub I can recall ever going into. It,s about the same distance as The Empress from the football ground but in the opposite direction
If you,re staying there overnight try The Travellers Rest on Crimble Lane ,it was always a good pint in there

Apparently the Travellers Rest also let vans stop overnight, and it looks like a much nicer pub, but further away away from the ground
